The war bonnets are of the western tribes and were worn due to the tourist and Hollywood expectations of Indian appearance.

Menominee Ceremony
and Funeral

Chief Crow shortly before his death in 1915..


This was the funeral ceremony for Chief Jim Crow. There is the outer stockade circle, and an inner circle of bent saplings where the ceremony takes place surrounds the offerings.
