Takes W. Duket
Just last fall, Duket was interviewed by the Peshtigo Times reporter about his recollections of the great fire. He replied "I ought to remember that fire. I had my ear burned in it". He told how his parents took him an his brothers and sisters and made them lie down by the spring under wet blankets. The family lived on a farm near Harmony.
Mr. Duket was born in the town of Porterfield on Oct 13, 1865. A cook and woodsman, he never married.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb 8 at 2 pm at the Harper funeral home in Peshtigo. The Rev Robert Firary officiated. Burial was in the Harmony cemetery.
He is survivied by a sister, Mrs. Bernice Buchanan of Florence (Wis) and nieces and nephews in Marinette.
