THE DEATH OF MRS. C. HEIDENWORTH  
Well Known Peshtigo Woman Passes Away – Pioneer Resident  

The people of this city and the friends and relatives of Mrs. Christ Heidenworth were shocked on hearing of her death which occurred at 5:30 o’clock Friday evening. Although having been in poor health for the past two years, she never complained and her illness was not thought serious until Thursday of last week, when a change cause for the worse and she sank rapidly and passed away peaceably within a week’s time from the sudden change.

Mr. Heidenworth and family felt nothing more could be done to arrest the properties of the disease, having secured the best medical aid, but to no avail. About a year ago, Mrs. Heidenworth went to St. Vincent’s Hospital, Green Bay, where she underwent an operation, and her health seemed to be benefited for a few months, when she began to fail in strength. Albertine Lenz Heidenworth was born in Germany September 3rd, 1850 and immigrated with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lenz to America when she was 6 years of age, locating in Chicago, where they lived for a few years. From Chicago, her parents moved to the state of …(?) where they resided for a few years, then they moved to Peshtigo and located on a farm on the Menominee Reservation.

April 16th, 1868, she was married to Christ Heidenworth of this city, where they have since made their home for forty-seven years.

The deceased leaves to mourn her death a husband, one daughter, Alice, two sons, George and Charles, two granddaughters, Alice and Phyllis, one sister, Augusta May, besides her mother, who is in her 89th year and all reside in Peshtigo. Mr. and Mrs. Heidenworth were survivors of the Peshtigo fire (note 1871) and won a lot of friends during the time they resided here.

Mrs. Heidenworth was a lady highly respected by all who knew her and her death will be deeply mourned. The funeral will take place Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the family residents on Emery avenue. The sorrowing husband and family have the sympathy of her many friends in their tribulation.
