Guy Jordan Erb Jr

Guy Erb Jr was born was born on June 1,
1947 to Guy Erb Sr and Opal (Tousey) Erb in Suring. Guy attended
elementery schools at Logan and Mountain Grade School and graduated from
Suring High School in 1965. He enlisted with his buddies Tim Mitchell
and Gordy Schenkoske and were scheduled to report to boot camp but in July
Guy broke his foot and was unable to join them until November of 1965.
Guy attended boot camp at Marine Corps Boot Camp in San Diego and Infantry
Training at Camp Pendelton. He arrived in Vietnam in April of 1966 and
found himself in combat. He served as a machine gunner for the 1st
Battalion, 9th Marines for 45 days before being wounded by a land mine on April
27th, 1966. He was immediately evacuated to the Great Lakes Naval
Hospital where he spent 2 1/2 years in recovery. He after leaving the
hospital he still had large pieces of schrapnel in his left hip. After
returning home, he married Kathy DeMaster. They had two
children; Lisa and Brian. Guy passed on February 7th, 2017.
