This survey map gives a very
colorful, in depth and
interesting
physical picture
of Oconto County land in 1913.
It
was a conjoining effort of
the State of Wisconsin Government,
the
University of Wisconsin
College of Agriculture and Geology.
Rural homes are designated by small black
squares,
usually found along waterways, roads,
foot
trails, lumber trails and railroad beds,
but some are quite isolated.
Look
at the Map Legend for a full explanation
of the many features these maps show.
A
comparison with today's maps indicate that
roadways have changed greatly over time.
You
will be able to see what the family homestead
land was like and where the house was on the property, and much, much
more.
