John Pinkard/Pinckard Will Lancaster Co. rec. 1690
IN THE NAME OF GOD Amen, the foure and twentieh day of March one thousand six hundred eighty and nine according to the computacon of the Church of England, I John Pinkard of the County of Lancaster being in p:fecke health and memory blessed bee God therefour, doe make ordaine and constitute this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following: First, I bequeath my Soule to God my Creator hopeing to bee saved by the merritorious death and passion of Jesus Christ my Redeemer, and as to my body to bee buried in Christian buriall according to the discrecon of my Children or those that shall have rite over my deade body; Item.

I will and bequeath to my Sone, John, all that Land which I bought of William Hearde lyeing on Curratomon with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging and appertaineing, to him my saide Sone, John, and his heires forever;

Alsoe, I give and bequeath to my said Sone, my Silver hilted Sword and belt thereto belonging, Alsoe my plate, Sadle with the pistolls, and furniture thereto belonging; Item.

I give and bequeath to my Sone, Thomas, all that plantation whereon I now live with all the dry lands and swamps or low ground from the hills downe to that lowe ground which is now called The Forke, and Short ground and extending to that swamp which parts this said lande & plantacon from that Neck of Land where Mr. George Wale Senr. did formerly live, the above plantacon and land abovesaide, with all the appurtenances thereto belonging and appertaineing to him mt said Sone, Thomas, and his heires forever; Alsoe I give and bequeath to my said Sone, Thomas, my weareing colthes with that set of plate buttons washt with gold thereto belongong; Item.

I give and bequeath to my Sone, James, that plantacon where the above saide Mr. George Wale formerly lived with all the Land within that Neck extending upp the Cove and Swamp which parts this plantacon whereon I now live from that and the upp side of that Creeke Grounde called The Forke and Short Ground, on which I bounded my Sone, Thomas, the Plantacon and Lande avove named with the appurtenances thereto belonging or appertaineing to my saide Sone, James, and his heires forever; Alsoe I give and bequeath to my said Sone, James my Gold Buckles and Wearent ye Rings, alsoe tweny thousand pounds of tobacco to bee paide out of that tobacco which is due mee abraode, hee my said Sone as those which after my daeth shall have rule over him and his and to take their chioce of what debts due mee to be fullfill the above twenty thousand pounds of tobacco by me given to my saide Son, James; Item.

I will and bequeath to my three Sons, John, Thomas and James, what money I now have or shall have at my decease to bee laide out in Negroes and those to bee equally devided between them my said Sons; Item.

My Will is tht my Wife shall have the managemt of my saide Children and their Estates dureing the time of her Widowhood or that my Children arrive at the age of Eighteen or the day of marriadge at which age so please God my Children shall attaine to; I do by this my Will order this Estate into their owne hands and to bee at their own disposall. any Law, custom or usage to the contrary notwithstanding;

My Will is that in case of my Wifes death or that she marries before my Children attaine to the above saide age of Eighteene or the day of their marriadge, that then my Will is that my three Sons, John, Thomas and James, shall have the management of the remainder of my Children and those their Estates dureing the time of minority and bee joynt Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof to this my Will, I hereby set my hand and seale this day and yeare above written.
