A Brief History

Morgan County was founded in 1862 and is named for Jedediah Morgan Grant, a leader and apostle of the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder-Day Saints (LDS). The movie Troll 2 was filmed in the county.

The county has an area of 611 square miles, less that 2 miles has water, and holds part of the Cache and Wasatch National Forests.

Counties adjacent to Morgan are Davis, Rich, Salt Lake, Summit and Weber.

The largest city in the county is Morgan and is also the county seat. Some other communities in the county include Croydon, Milton, Monte Verde, Mountain Green, Peterson, Porterville, Richville, and Stoddard.
