Professor Wayne Wright Johnson taught at Nigton School for over 40 years.  Born 16Sep1879 in Weldon, Texas, died June 1968 in Crosby, Texas.  He graduated from Prairie View A & M College and worked with Dr. G.W. Carver at Tuskegee Institute.  He married Elsie Mark 28Apr1912 in Trinity County.

In later years baseball became a popular sport in the Nigton Community.  Fairbanks Deason is credited for organizing and promoting baseball teams through the years.
