Notes for Wayne Wright Johnson Sr.
Wayne Wright Johnson, Sr. is listed in the 1880 Us Census as Winwright.  He later changed his name to Wayne Wright.
Professor Johnson, as he was known, graduated from Prairie View A&M College.  While at Prairie View, he played on the first football team.  He went to work with Dr. Carver at Tuskegee Institute.  He returned to Texas and he and Elsie started several schools for black youth in east Texas in Corrigan, Apple Springs, etc..  He later taught at Texas College, Tyler, Texas.
