Robert L. "York" Ligon
"Uncle York"

The information for this family group sheet was compiled by Susanne Waller and from Ligon family information provided by Elijah Thomas, Jim Ligon and Lee Ligon. Known by many as "Uncle York" Ligon, Robert Ligon first appears in Trinity County in the 1880 US Federal Census, though it seems very possible that he was here before 1860 and one of the earliest settlers in the Nigton Community.
Robert Ligon received a Houston Pre-Emption grant for 160 Acres. The application was first filed in 1873, and patented in 1900.
