Comments: Pinckney Columbus Porter was of Irish descent.  His Porter
ancestors were from South Carolina, and migrated to Alabama about 1825.
Pinckney was raised by his Aunt, Elizabeth Ann Porter Forbus, and her
husband, Arthur Forbus.  Pinckney resided in their home in Lauderdale
County Alabama, until the age of 14.  Falsely stating his age of 18, he
enlisted in Bradford's 14th United States Calvary, musted in on
11/25/1863, a few months after his 14th birthday. His grave is marked
with a US Civil War tombstone. After the Civil War, Pinckney remained
in Lauderdale County Alabama for several years after his marriage.
Along with his wife, and 8 children he came to Texas in a wagon train in
1877.  He resided in the Point area until his wife, Margaret's death in
1918.  At that time, he left his farm in Point and moved to Emory and
resided on North Planter's Street, with daughter Vivian, until the time
of his death.  He was a farmer, and a member of The Christian Church.
