| Cameron Pioneer Cemetery Cameron, Milam County, Texas Transcription by L.R. Henderson Cameron Pioneer Cemetery is located near the outside of Cameron on the West side, off of Hwy 36/US 190 before Little River Bridge on the right hand side of the road. It is a small cemetery and pretty well kept with the exception of the graves near the north part, which are overrun with weeds and trees. Please be advised that one needs to be careful because the north part of the cemetery has a drop off that goes into Little River and I (Clarissa) did not see any railing, but the tombstones are not close to this drop off. This cemetery is one of the oldest in Milam County and is not an active cemetery since the newest gravestone is dated in 1957. This transcription is by L.R. Henderson on 8 April 2002. There are 85 stones in Cameron Pioneer Cemetery and the oldest stone is of Caladona & Hariette Harmon, who both died on 20 Sep 1849. There are several stones that are illegible and broken. |
