Charles C. Myers was the Chief Musician of the 16th Ohio Volunteer
Infantry. He enlisted as a private Company F on September 1861, at the
age of 18. He was transferred to Company D on November 22, 1861. On
September 1, 1863 he was promoted to Chief Musician and transferred to
Field & Staff. His unit was camped at the southern tip of Matagorda
Peninsula known as Decrow's Point. According to the letters and diary of
fellow musician, Thomas Linn, Mr. Myers died at 10 p.m. on December 29,
1863. He was buried at Decrow's Point on the evening of December 30,
