BOYDSTUN |
Howell Terrance Boydstun, said to have married while living in Texas in the 1800's, wife's name unknown. She was possibly Indian, they had two daughters, Mary and Martha. I have very little details on his life in Texas, but it is rumored that his wife may have died in Texas, her name erased by another family member (said to have been her husband's son by his 2nd marriage). H.T. also may have been in the Military there, protecting the border from Indian raids, how ironic! If by chance you know of this family, please respond to the email address. |

BRIDGER |
William B. Bridgers received his land grant in 1824 signed by Estevan F. Austin. William was born in 1795 in NC. He served under Capt. John Alley during the Texas Revolution. His second wife was Harriet Fuqua, sister of Galba Fuqua who died in the Alamo. Their marriage bond was signed in Gonzales in 1832. She died prior to 1836. His third wife was Elizabeth Lyons Tribble. Her father, James Lyons was killed by Comanches in 1837 at Lyons Station, now Schulenberg. Her brother, Warren Lyons, was taken captive and was not seen again for 10 years. William became a JP and some of the marriages he performed can be seen on the LaVaca County TXGenWeb site. He died in 1853 in Fayette County. An historical marker was erected for him in the Lyons Family Plot in the Schulenberg Cemetery. |

My people settled in this county in 1872. Although none exist there any longer, some are buried in the Edna Cemetery. This is where our family began their new life in America. I have much info but am always looking for more. Other surnames that are related are VOLKMER - WITTE -SITTERLIE. |

LA BAUVE |
"My father, as is
often the case in our sojourns through life, was not contented with
the monotonous life of the humble plotter of this life, and he
extended his visions in the vast infinite that separated his family
from the immensity separating him from the great State of Texas;
therefore in August, 1858, we wended our way to New Iberia, then a
small hamlet. Took passage on the steam-boat S.M. Darby and landed
at Morgan City, just twelve hours before the steam-ship Orizaba
steamed in Indianola, Texas. Our family took passage aboard here,
and twenty four hours later, we were at Indianola. Texas. Here,
father put me and Shelby, one of our negro boys, in charge of his
buggy." |
