Howard Wayne Neal

Lolita – Howard Wayne Neal has exited his rickety old body, having lived twice as long as he expected and way longer then he deserved. He passed on September 11, 2016, at 74 years old. He often wished in his later years that he had not treated his body like a Tavern.

Wayne never met a man he didn't want to Indian leg wrestle, or play mercy with. Mainly because he was an ornery ole bastard

He was a modest man who very seldom bragged about all of his treasures on Facebook. By the Way, who the hell taught him about Facebook?

He was considered the best concrete contractor in all of Texas, and if you ever doubted him, you could ask anyone that endured the hours of one more and we will call it a night at Wayne's Hurricane Bar.

Proceeded in death by his wife Carolyn (mainly because she had enough of his shenanigans), son Christopher Wayne Neal, mother Irene, father Harold, brother Jim, and sister Candy.

He is survived by his favorite son Buddy and another kid, some grandchildren, a few more great grandchildren, a trilogy of brothers, and one sister.

He had a passion for old cars, scotch, his construction company, scotch, travel, and oh yeah scotch. Did we mention scotch?

He will be missed by many and remembered by all who knew him.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Oaklawn Funeral Home Chapel in Edna. Burial to follow in the Lolita Cemetery in Lolita. Jim Munro will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Mike Neal, Rodney Neal, Steve Neal, Kenny Love, David Rutherford, and Marc Neal.

Joshua Louis New

Joshua “Josh” Louis New, 34, of Edna, passed away on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018 in Edna. He was born on Sept. 22, 1983 to Brent and Tana New of Edna.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Nikole New; daughter Emma Reneé and son Brody Kain; his parents, Brent and Tana New; brothers, Brent Jr. and wife Jennifer New of Edna, and Delynn New; nieces and nephews McKenna, Coltyn, and Brylee, father and mother-in-law Larry and Tina Badgett of Dayton, Texas; brother-in-law Trent Badgett of Dayton; and grandmother, Rita Cheney and numerous friends and family.

He is preceeded in death by grandparents Oscar and Jane New, and Delbert Lynn and Nellie Whittley.

Josh was a devoted father and husband. He loved his family more than anything in the world. All that mattered to him was providing for his wife and children. He worked hard every day from sun-up to sun-down. He spent many years working on oilfield rigs until he decided to start his own business building fences. He loved what he did and it showed in his work.

Josh loved hunting, fishing, and enjoying a few beers with family and friends. Even though he came home tired every night, he always made time for his family. From dancing with his daughter to teaching his son how to drive a tractor, he found the time. They always loved joking with their dad and will cherish those memories forever.     We lost an amazing young man who was a wonderful husband, a loving father, a great son, a caring brother, a best friend, and a hard worker.

As we lay him down to rest with heavy hearts and tears in our eyes, he will forever live on in our memories and be dearly missed.

Bobby Nicholson Sr.

Bobby Ray Nicholson Sr., 76, passed away early in the morning on Sunday, the 19th of February 2017, in Victoria, Texas.

Mr. Nicholson was the son of Pat Cecile Comilleau.

Bobby was preceded in death by his mother Pat Cecile Comilleau, brother Jimmy Lamar Riggs, sister Jeanette Nicholson, and sister Virginia Dujka.

Mr. Nicholson began his education at Lamar Consolidated High School. He then continued his education, and joined the football team, at Wharton County Junior College. After his short time Read More in Wharton, Bobby soon went to the University of North Texas to continue his football and educational career.

After completing his degree, Bobby became a teacher/coach, first at Wharton High School, then at Industrial High School. While he was head football coach and athletic director at Industrial ISD, Bobby made many contributing factors to the school itself. The most memorable football team he coached at Industrial was nicknamed the "Mean Eighteen"-and for good reason. He always bragged how tough the players were on that particular team. He also coached the men’s golf team to a State Championship. Finally, Bobby contributed the famous school song, Patton, to the Industrial school tradition. After coaching, Mr. Nicholson continued to become principal and eventually superintendent at Industrial ISD. Bobby will forever bleed Maroon and Gray for the Cobras.

Mr. Nicholson was remembered by many attributes of his character. While in the career of education, he genuinely touched the lives of thousands. Bobby also instilled lasting qualities that continue to live on inside those who knew him. He was an avid hunter and fisherman whenever he had free time. Mr. Nicholson was a top notch "Pops" to his grandkids. He left a legacy for them and his two children. One of the most prominent ways people remember Bobby is that he instilled Cobra Pride into anyone he came into contact with.

Bobby would have wanted to give special thanks for all of the memories that he held so dear to his heart. He would also be thankful for those who took the time to sit and listen to his motivating speeches and stories.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 5-9 p.m. at the Inez Community Center. Funeral Services will be Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church, Victoria with Pastor Jack Hudson and Marilyn Kunkel officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Victoria.
