Clarence McAfee

Edna—Funeral services for Clarence W. McAfree, 51, of Newark, Ohio, will be held at 2:30 p. m. Monday at the Scruggs Methodist Church, with the Rev. T. L. Griffin officiating.

Burial will be in Chase Cemetery, under the direction of Cook-Butler Funeral Home.

McAfree died Tuesday at his Newark, Ohio, residence. He was born Aug. 3, 1930 in El Campo. He was a finished product handler for Tectum Inc., in Newark and had served in the Army from 1947 – 1949.

Surviving is his father, Emmitt McAfee of Harlingen.

Pallbearers are Chester Chase, Lincoln Edwards, Willis Clifford and Cornelius Ceasar, Arthur Ellis and Augustus Lott.

John Michael McAfee

Mike McAfee, 79, formerly of Ganado, passed away, June 19, 2019, in Edmond, Okla. Mike was born on March 1, 1940, to Patti and Bud McAfee in Vandalia, Ill. He was baptized in the First Baptist Church of Ganado.

Mike was one of the great all-around athletes, garnishing All District honors four consecutive years in the major sports – football, basketball, baseball and track. His gifted ability to relate to young people made him a natural in coaching and with his quickwitted mind proved that he had a knack at helping them not only improve on their athletic techniques but also the rules of sportsmanship in all areas. He was the only athlete from Ganado High School to be selected to play in the Basketball South All Star Game. After graduation from high school in 1958, his education continued at Wharton Junior College on a basketball scholarship.

Mike was an accountant for Armco Steel Corporation in Houston, Texas for 20 years. His life after retirement was filled by serving as a caretaker to his parents. He was fortunate to share his penultimate 14 years with his sister, Jan.

Mike is survived by his son, Shawn McAfee (Karen) and three grandsons, Ryan, Brett and Hayden; daughter, Kelly Fisher (Brian) and three granddaughters, Caraline, Sophie and Meredith, all from Longview, Texas; sister, Jan Gardiner of Edmond, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, John Sanders of Dallas; three nieces and four nephews.

He was preceded in death by sister, Shirley Carroll and brother-in-law Bill Carroll; sister, Juanita Sanders; brother-in-law, Ron Gardiner; nephew Hank Carroll, and cousin, Joe McCrary.

A memorial service was held on Lake Keystone and burial will be in Ganado.

A. W. McBride

Lolita—A. W. McBride, 59, of Lolita, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997.

He was born Sept. 30, 1938, in Franklin to the late Roy A. and Pearl Gladys Keefer McBride. He was a retired scheduler and planner for the I&E Department at DuPont with 29 years of service. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, a master mason and member of Masonic Lodge No. 36, and a Deacon and member of Lolita First Baptist Church.

Survivors: wife of 38 years, Virginia Cody McBride; sons, Royce McBride of Point Comfort and Jason McBride; sisters, Lucille Lewis, Vesta Harris, Veslyn Junek and Christine Russell of Bryan; brother, Raymond McBride of Port Also; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 10 a. m. today at Lolita First Baptist Church, the Rev. Gene Rice officiating.

Burial will be at Red Bluff Cemetery. Colonial Funeral Home, Port Lavaca, 552, 9766.

Pallbearers: Dennis Snyder, Joe Bonnet, Buford Carnes, Wayne Willoughby, E. J. Brieden, Gary Thedford and Carl Allen.

Robert McBride Jr.
1932 - 2014

Robert Rankin McBride, Jr. - Bob McBride's journey in the world came to an end on Monday, August 04, 2014. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Shirley Thiac McBride, one son Robert Rankin McBride III (Bobby) and wife Heather, and three daughters Pat Morgan, Betty Dunagan, and Sharon McBride Potter and husband Eddie. He was predeceased by a son, Charles McBride and sister Penny McBride. Bob leaves 9 grandchildren - Mary Beth Morgan, Kathleen Morgan, Leigh Morgan, Will Morgan, Julia Potter, Jackson Potter, Kenzie Dunagan, Marissa Dunagan, and Elena Potter.

Bob was born on December 17, 1932 in Beatrice, Nebraska but always considered himself as a Louisiana native since his family has had a presence in that state since the 1700's. He was a victim of Poliomyelitis in 1935 and recovered with only slight impairment until 1996 when he began to experience deterioration from Post-polio syndrome. From that time until his death he was confined to wheelchairs and other assistive devices for mobility.

He graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute in Lafayette, LA with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1954. He was first employed by Magnolia Petroleum Company in Morgan City, Louisiana for installation of offshore platforms but he soon moved on to a position with Bonded Roofing and Specialty Co. in Lafayette. After about 3 years in contracting he found that he wanted to pursue an engineering career that was more consistent with his education and he was employed by Palmer and Baker Engineers in New Orleans and engaged in design of Interstate Highways in Louisiana and then as manager of the materials and geotechnical subsidiary of the company, Southern Laboratories. In 1960 he was sent to Guayaquil, Ecuador to manage materials engineering for the construction of Puerto Nuevo in Guayaquil. He returned to the home office of Palmer and Baker Engineers and assumed the position of manager of their materials and geotechnical engineering laboratory in Mobile, Alabama.

In 1964 he was offered an opportunity to participate in a consulting position with the Maryland State Roads Commission. During his tenure with Miller-Warden Associates he provided guidance on design and construction supervision of interstate highways in Maryland and Tennessee. In 1966 he was employed by Etco Engineers and Associates in Houston and provided Geotechnical Consultancy in the Houston area. The firm was acquired by Woodward-Clyde Consultants of San Francisco. He had significant involvement in a number of high-rise building projects and major commercial centers such as The Galleria, Greenway Plaza and Post Oak Central in addition to a number of Public Works projects.

In 1976 he founded the firm of McBride-Ratcliff and Associates and continued in service to the aforementioned projects along with Houston Intercontinental Airport and the Harris County Toll Road. He retired from his firm in 1987 and, after providing a consulting service for Harris County, he moved to Corpus Christi, TX until 2002 when he returned to the Houston area.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church, 5356 W. 11th Street, Katy, Texas. A reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the Shriners Hospital for Children or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital located in Memphis, TN.

Royce Ollen McBride

August 7, 1970 – March 22, 2019

Royce McBride, 48, of Lolita passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019. He was born on Friday, August 7, 1970 in Dallas to A. W.  and Virginia McBride.

Royce served his country during Desert Storm with the U.S. Navy from April 1991 to March 1997.

Royce is survived by his daughter; Alysa McBride,  mother; Virginia McBride, brother; Jason McBride and sister-in-law Jackie, niece, Shelby McBride and nephews; Brandon and Andy Davis; also his dear friend and Alysa's mother, Carole Arnold.

Royce is preceded in death by his father; A. W. McBride.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Friday, March 29, 2019, at 2 p. m.  at First Baptist Church of Lolita with Pastor Gary Thedford officiating

Honorary Pallbearers will be; Steven Dacke, Mary Schoonover Greer, Ken Groppert, and Johnny Henderson.

Betty Mathis McCallick
January 08, 2014

Betty Mathis McCallick died Wednesday evening, January 8th 2014, at the age of 88. She was survived by her brother, Harry Mathis, her children, Mike Brannen, David Brannen, Brooke Crawley and Brent McCallick and her grandchildren, Alex, Travis, Megan, Hugh, Kate and Sarah. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh E. "Mac" McCallick, her sister, Juliet Mathis, and her brothers, Edgar and Tom. 

Betty was an active member of the Edna Presbyterian Church until she moved to Austin to be close to family. She was also active in clubs, was an avid bridge player and traveled all over the world. She was a great cook and a fine lady. She will be missed by her many friends and family who loved her greatly. 

Services will be held Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 12:00 at the Arbor at Memory Gardens in Edna, Texas.

Justin A. McClelland

Justin A. McClelland of Edna passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on May 2, 1975 to William James McClelland and Dorothy D. Aupperle in North Hills, Penn.     Justin is survived by his wife Danah McClelland, sons James McClelland, Dustin McClelland and Kyle Davis McClelland; his grandchildren Skylin, Tristan, Riley and River McClelland; sister Jamie L. Sainz; brother Jason S. McClelland; mother Dorothy D. Aupperle; father William J. McClelland; stepfather Walter Anderson, Jr.; and grandmother Mildred McClelland.

Joseph Boyd McCurley

Joseph Boyd McCurley, 71 of Bay City, TX passed away peacefully November 18, 2018. 

 He was preceded in death and now reunited with his beloved wife, Madelyn.

Joseph was a Veteran and served his country well and honorably in the United States Army.

He loved his family, friends and fishing! Some of his best moments were spent on the water either with the Montgomery's or his nephews.

Joe loved sports, especially baseball, his love started early, as he was a great player in his youth "#6". His interests were varied and he read and studied many things. He was a quiet, gentle man who will be "greatly" missed.

He leaves to cherish his memory, son, James and wife Kim; daughter, Gail and husband; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Debby James and husband Danny; and a sweet bunch of nieces and nephews who loved and adored him; Darell and Darla Montgomery and their children Derek, Lori and Melissa.

Lavern Maxine McDonald

Lavern Maxine McDonald, 70, of Ganado, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011 in Houston. She was born Dec. 9, 1940, in Ganado, to the late Bill and Alma (Banker) Vordick. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Thielmann (Mike) of Navasota; sons, Bubba (Telina) McDonald of Fields Store and John (Rhonda) McDonald of Magnolia; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and always her little partner, Leah Staff.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne McDonald; and sister, Iris Burns.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at Ganado Funeral Chapel.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at Red Bluff Cemetery, the Rev. George Tompkins officiating.

Pallbearers will be David Hyegaard, Tommy Morrison, Charles Ellington, Peanut Heager, Doug Petrich, and Dale Staff.

Wayne W. McDonald

Ganado—Wayne W. McDonald, 73, of Ganado, died Thursday, June 14, 2007, in San Antonio. He was the superintendent of construction for Joe A. McDermott Inc. of Houston.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine McDonald of Ganado; daughter, Cathy Theilmann of Navasota; sons, David Wayne and Telina McDonald of Waller and John William and Ronda McDonald of Magnolia; sister, Anita Wise of Corpus Christi; half-brother, Bobby Arceneaux of Spring; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John McDonald and Daisy Arceneaux.

Funeral service will be at 2 p. m. on Monday, June 18, 2007, at Ganado Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Joe Wes Rubac officiating. Burial will follow at Red Bluff Cemetery.

Naomi Strane McDonald
Mrs. Geo. McDonald Is Laid to Rest

Last rites were held Sunday morning at 10 o'clock at the Slavik Funeral Home for Mrs. Naomia Strane McDonald, 43, who was killed in an auto accident near Fairbanks, Alaska, July 30. Rev C. Robert Flournoy of Houston, a former resident of Morales, officiated and burial was in the Morales Cemetery. Pallbearers were Howard Wilson, Lewis Watson, M. C. Shelby, Bill Gloor, Ferrell Watson, Oscar McNeil and O. B. Bozeman.

Memorial services were held at the Native Baptist Mission at Fairbanks before the body was flown to Edna. Mrs. McDonald died with two other ladies in a spill over a 35-foot cliff that climaxed a wild five-mile ride down a long hill. A rock had punctured the automatic transmission and the brakes, leaving the 1953 model car without brakes except for the emergency brake. It also went out on the hill, throwing the car out of control.

William McElveen

William Van (Bill) McElveen was born on August 15, 1942, in Bay City, Texas, to the late Herbert Oscar McElveen and Myrtle Wilson McElveen. He departed his Earthly Life on Thursday morning, May 18, 2017, at Remarkable Nursing Home in Seguin, Texas.

Bill grew up in West Columbia, Texas, and later moved with his parents to Victoria, Texas. He graduated from Victoria High School in 1962, attended the University of Houston, and later served in the U.S. Air Force. Bill resided in Fort Worth for many years where he had established “Color by Bill”. He had numerous clients who reveled in his ability to create unique landscaping. During past years, Bill lived a quiet life in Seguin. He enjoyed visiting and dining with friends and caring for his beloved dog, "Lola."

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a long-time companion, Homer "Woody" Woodruff; an older brother, Herb McElveen; a nephew, Michael McElveen; his grandparents, Martin and Pearl Littlefield Wilson, and Jackson and Hattie Evans McElveen; as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Bill is survived by an uncle, Donald Wilson of Brazoria; his brothers, Kenneth McElveen of Victoria, Ronald McElveen of Karnes City; and sister-in-laws, Fran McElveen of Lakeway, Paulette McElveen of Ganado, and Rose McElveen of Karnes City. He is also survived by nieces Kathy McElveen Field of Austin, Lori McElveen Mitchell of Colorado, Marcy McElveen Reed of Terlingua, Rhonda McElveen of San Antonio, Crystal McElveen of Karnes City; and a nephew, Kyle McElveen, of Ganado. Great nieces, great nephews, and numerous cousins also survive.

Bill was grateful for the friendship of his special friends in Seguin, Texas. Following Bill's wishes of cremation, final internment services will be held at the Ganado City Cemetery in Ganado, Texas, on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. For those who wish, Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church, 226 S. Annie May McFeron

Wharton—Annie May McFeron, 81, of Wharton died Friday as the result of an automobile accident.

Information on the accident was not available Saturday from the Wharton Police Department

She was born April 30, 1904, in Terryville, Ark., to the late John Bliss and Georgia Ivey Compton.

She married Clarence William McFeron on July 23, 1921, in Palacios. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1973.

A former resident of LaWard, she moved to Wharton in 1975. She was a member of the College Heights Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at 10 a. m. Monday at the Wharton Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jim Daniel and Bernie Helge officiating.

Graveside services will be at 1 p. m. at the Red Bluff Cemetery.

Mrs. McFeron is survived by two daughters, Marvel McFeron of Wharton and Georgia Yates of New Gulf; a son, Clarence McFeron of Heflin, Ala.; a brother, Jack Compton of Conroe; step-sister, Gene Thedford of Lolita; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. McFeron was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Compton and Calvin Compton.

Pallbearers will be Melvin Vaca, Leonard Navara, Jerry Slaughter, Bob White, Phil Yates and Bill Yates.

Mrs. Beatrice McFeron

Lolita — Mrs. Beatrice McFeron, 73, of Lolita died Tuesday at the home of a son while visiting in Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Lolita, with the Rev. Dale Turner officiating. 
She was born April 4, 1906 in Mississippi. 

Burial will be in Red Bluff Cemetery under direction of the Slavik Funeral Home. 

Surviving are a daughter, Joy Nawara of Houston; three sons, Charles of Lolita, Ronald of Edna and Thomas Walter of Houston; two sisters, Blanch McMillan of Port Arthur and Mrs. Grover Klaus of Lolita; a brother, James M. Browning of Telferner; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Charles Glenn McFeron, Mark Andrew Nawara, James Michael Thompson, Eugene Lovelace, Bryant Thedford and Harold M. Browning. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Lanie Edward. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Lolita First Baptist Church library fund.

Charles A. McFeron

LOLITA — Charles Alonzo "Bill" McFeron, 69, of Lolita died Saturday, Feb. 19, 1994.
 

He was born March 17, 1924, in Red Bluff to the late Walter Albert and Beatrice Browning McFeron. He was a retired engineer for P.C.& N. Railroad. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lolita and a member of the Eagles Lodge No. 4116 in Edna.
 

Survivors: daughter, Billie Jean Purcell of Edna; stepdaughters, Hazel Lewis and Charlotte White; stepsons, Robert Altwein and Frankie Altwein; sister, Joy Nawara of Houston; brother, Tommy McFeron of Houston; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

Preceded in death by wife, Ruby Mae Pape McFeron; son; and grandson. 

Services: 3 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, the Rev. Gene Rice officiating and Mr. Lance McFeron co-officiating.

Charles McFeron

Lolita—Charles Glenn McFeron, 28, of Austin died Wednesday in Austin after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Thursday at the Week-Corley Funeral Chapel in Austin, and again at 2 p. m. Friday at the Lolita Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Red Bluff Cemetery under direction of the Slavik Funeral Home of Edna.

Mr. McFeron was born Oct. 14, 1950 in Ganado. He had been an electrician trainee with the city of Austin.

Surviving are his father, Charles A. McFeron of Lolita, mother, Virgie Shelton of Port Lavaca, maternal grandmother, Vera Gerlich of Sweeny, wife, Sheila McFeron of Austin, a son, Brandon of Austin, and sister, Billie Lovelace of Magnolia.

Clarence W. McFeron

La Ward - Funeral services for Clarence W. McFeron 68, of La Ward will be held at 2:30 p. m. Sunday from First Baptist Church of Lolita, with the Rev. Raymond Quick officiating.

Burial will be in Red Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Psencik Funeral Home of Ganado.

Mr. McFeron was born Oct. 29, 1904, in Nebraska. He married Annie Compton in 1921 in Palacios, and was a ranch foreman. He was pronounced dead on arrival at a Ganado hospital Thursday night, after a sudden illness.

Surviving are his wife, Annie McFeron of La Ward; two daughters, Marvel McFeron of La Ward and Mrs. Georgia Yates of New Gulf; a son, Clarence B. McFeron of Tama, Fla.; a brother, Robert of New Gulf; a son, Clarence B McFeron of Tama, Fla.; a brother, Robert of New Gulf; a half-sister, Lonnie Selby of Sinton; two step-sisters, Lucille Compton of Farmington, N. M., and Lolita Walker of Palacios; and four grandchildren.

Hilda Lee McFeron

Wharton—Hilda Lee McFeron, 85, of Wharton and formerly of Newgulf, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998.

She was born May 23, 1913, in Red Bluff, to the late Arthur and Vera Heaton Woodruff. She was a homemaker and was a member of Lolita Baptist Church.

Survivors: daughters, Jo Ann Baca of Wharton and Mary Wilson of Montgomery; sisters, Jeanette Hamilton of Seguin; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by: husband, Robert Lee “Bob” McFeron; sisters, Arlene Klaus and Lou Ellen Argo; and brothers, Tracey Woodruff and A. P. Woodruff.

Services will be 11 a. m. Saturday at Wharton Funeral Home chapel, the Rev. Clay Faulk officiating.

Graveside services and burial will be 1 p. m. Saturday at Red Bluff Cemetery near Edna. Wharton Funeral Home, Wharton, (409) 532-3410.

Nathan Glenn McFeron
Infant Drowns In Ditch

Port Lavaca—Nathan Glenn McFeron, five-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles McFeron of Lolita, drowned late Thursday night when a car driven by his mother went out of control and crashed into a 14 to 15 foot drainage ditch containing about four feet of water.

Mrs. McFeron, 25, and another son, Brandon Scott McFeron, 2, were reported in satisfactory condition Friday night at Champ Traylor Memorial Hospital with bruises and lacerations.

The accident occurred at 10:45 p. m. on Toney Road, near Maxwell Ditch, 3.6 miles north of Port Lavaca in the Six Mile area.

The youngest son was pronounced dead on arrival at 11:30 p. m. at a local hospital.

State trooper Glenn Srubar said Mrs. McFeron was traveling west on the rural road when she failed to negotiate a 90-degree left turn on an S-curve, causing the vehicle to leave the road and enter the ditch.

Srubar said the wreckage was discovered by Ronnie Rodriguez, a youth traveling on the same road. He said Rodriguez saw the lights of the car in the drainage ditch and immediately notified authorities.

Srubar, who assisted at the scene by deputy sheriffs Ray Brown, Vivian Richards and Mike Gibson, and members of the Port Lavaca Volunteer Fire Department, said the car was demolished.

An ambulance from Port Lavaca Funeral Home took the victims to the hospital.

The infant’s death marked the eighth traffic fatality of the year on rural roads in Calhoun County.

He was born April 18 in Victoria.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p. m Saturday at First Baptist Church in Lolita with the Rev. Larry Lancaster officiating. Burial will be in Red Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Psencik Funeral Home of Ganado.

Surviving, besides the parents and the brother, are the grandparents, C. A. McFeron of Lolita, Virginia Shelton of Port Lavaca and Nettie Cargill of Austin.

Robert L. McFeron

Wharton—Robert Lee McFeron, 76, of New Gulf, died Friday at a Wharton hospital following a brief illness.

He was born on Dec. 11, 1908, in Palacios. He was the son of the late Clarence Alonzo and Anna Smith McFeron.

He was married on April 4, 1931, in Blessing to Hilda Lee Woodruff. He worked as a shop foreman for Texas Gulf Sulphur Co., from December 1942 until his retirement in January 1974.

He had been a resident of New Gulf since 1942, and was a member of the Lolita Baptist church and the Wharton Masonic Lodge.

Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Sunday at the Wharton Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Bernie Helge officiating.

Graveside services will be at 4:15 p. m. Sunday at the Red Bluff Cemetery near Lolita.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hilda McFeron of New Gulf; two daughters, Mrs. Jo Ann Baca of New Gulf and Mrs. Mary Suhr of Houston; a half-sister, Lonnie Dell Selby of Sinton; two stepsisters, Lolita Walker of Palacios and Lucille Compton of Farmington, N. M.; and two grandchildren.

The family request that memorials be made to a charity in lieu of the usual remembrances.

Ronald K. McFeron

EDNA — Ronald Kenneth McFeron, 52, of Edna died Sunday in an Edna hospital following a lengthy illness.
 

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Edna with the Rev. Danny Nietfeld, pastor, officiating. 

Burial will follow at Red Bluff Cemetery under direction of Slavik Funeral Home. 

Pallbearers will be Jerry Anderson, Milton Bain, Charles Williams, Joe D, Hermes, Paul Littlefield and Robert Williams. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Ewald, Lance and Hal Koop, Clifford Born, Devon and John Fitzpatrick and Frank Wells, elders of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the employees of Union Carbide. 

Mr. McFeron was born Jan. 31, 1933, in La Ward, son of Walter and Beatrice McFeron. He spent 23 years with Union Carbide as an outside machinist and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was a church elder and chairman of the St. Paul Lutheran Church Board of Elders. 

McFeron received national athletic recognition in 1951 when named a high school All-American while a student at Industrial High School. 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia McFeron of Edna. The couple were married March 28, 1953, in El Campo. 

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Cheryl Gray of Port Lavaca and Julie McFeron of Edna; a sister, Joy Nawara of Houston; and two brothers, Bill McFeron of Lolita and Tommy McFeron of Houston. 

The family requests memorials be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church library fund or to the donor's church or charity of choice.

Funeral Services For Walter McFeron Are Held Saturday

Funeral services were held from the Lolita Baptist Church last Saturday at 3 o’clock for Walter Albert McFeron, 53, carpenter, who died in an El Campo hospital Friday after a short illness. Rev. R. V. Drews and Rev. T. D. Felts officiated and burial was in the direction of the Slavik Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Elbert McFeron, W. L. Mays, Jack Yates, C. B. Nowlin, Milton McFeron and James Nowlin.

Mr. McFeron was a native of Nebraska, having been born at Byard Jan. 3, 1900, a son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. McFeron, deceased. He came to Texas in 1909, settling in this county.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Beatrice McFeron; a daughter, Joy McFeron of Houston; three sons, Charles A., Ronald and Thomas W. McFeron, all of Lolita; three brothers, Louie and Clarence McFeron of La Ward and Bob McFeron of New Gulf, and two grandchildren; also a half-sister, Mrs. Maurice Selby of Guam.

Myrea “Rene” McHaney

LAWARD - Myrea "Rene" McHaney, 93, of LaWard, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003.  
 
She was born May 20, 1909, in Beulah Community, to the late Arthur J. and Ethel Joines Stayton. She was co-owner of Weedhaven Grocery Store and a member of First United Methodist Church of Lolita. 
 
Survivors: brother, Arthur J. Stayton Jr. of Cat Springs; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. 
 
Preceded in death by: husband, George C. McHaney Sr.; son, George C. McHaney; parents; sister, Stella Fitzpatrick; and brothers, Milton Stayton and Gordon Stayton. 
 
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Slavik Funeral Home chapel. 
 
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel, the Rev. Ron Shott officiating.

Mary Jo McKibbon

Mary Jo McKibbon, 85, of Port Lavaca passed away Feb. 1, 2017. She was born on June 3, 1931, in Palo Pinto, Texas. She was a Methodist. Mary Jo retired from First National Bank as assistant vice president in April, 1999 after 38 years of service. She enjoyed many years as a volunteer for Calhoun County Community Ministries and the Food Pantry.

Mary Jo is survived by her two children: daughter, Marolyn (Jim) Cummins and son, Edward L. “Sonny” (Rhonda) McKibbon, Jr.; 8 loving grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one niece and two nephews; her very special friends, Robert Howe, Joyce Kainer and Earlene Muenster. She held a very special place in her heart for David, Cindy, Tommy and Bobby Long.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Clona Chesnut; husband, Edward L. McKibbon; infant son; brother, James Clark and grandson, Michael Smart.

A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 9 from 10 to 11 a.m. with the memorial service to begin at 11 a.m. in Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home with Pastor Carl Westbrook officiating.

Dorothy G. McLaughlin

Columbus, Ohio—Dorothy Gerlich McLaughlin, 73, of Columbus, Ohio, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001.

She was born July 2, 1927, in Aquilla, to the late John and Vera Terry Gerlich. She was a retired civil service worker for the federal government and a member of West Broad Church of Christ. She did volunteer work at Doctor’s Hospital West in Columbus.

Survivors: sisters, Aravella Baker of Columbus, Ohio, Vergie Shelton of Port Lavaca and Chris Lunch of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; and brother, Jerry Gerlich of Saudi Arabia.

Preceded in death by: husband, William J. McLaughlin.

Services will be 10 a. m. Tuesday at Colonial Funeral Home chapel in Port Lavaca, the Rev. Jimmy Lane officiating.

William James McLaughlin

William James McLaughlin, 49, of 306 E. Power St., resident of Victoria for the past five years, died at 9:30 a. m. Tuesday in a local hospital after a long illness.

Mr. McLaughlin was born April 24, 1924, in San Francisco, Calif. A salesman employed by C. R. Anthony Co., he was a member of Downtown Church of Christ.

He was a son of Hugh and Dora McDonnell McLaughlin. He served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II, and had attended Fresno State College.

Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Thursday at the Downtown Church of Christ. Graveside services will be held at 3:45 p. m. at Red Bluff Cemetery near Edna. The body will lie in state at Colonial Funeral Home until 12:30 p. m., when it will be taken to the church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dorothy McLaughlin of Victoria; two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Bowers of Honolulu, and Mrs.. Phyllis Walker of Fresno, Calif.; a son, Stephen McLaughlin of Fresno, Calif.; and one grandson.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Gerlich, B. Ellison Shelton, Paul Wick, Alfonso G. Pena, L. W. Richardson and Tom Pitchford.

Blanche T. McMillan

Victoria—Blanche Thedford McMillan, 96, of Victoria, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, of natural causes.

She was born in Mississippi to the late Thomas Browning and Moretta Robins. She was a sales clerk and a Baptist.

Survivors: son, Larkin Thedford of Edna; foster son, Harold Melvin “Bubba” Browning of Port Lavaca; four grandchildren; and two foster grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: husband, B. J. McMillan; daughter, Frances Gay Thedford Wells; son, Darrell Bryant Thedford; sisters, Vera Browning Everage, Beatrice McFeron and Lavelle Browning Klaus; and brothers, E. C. Browning, Lowell Browning and Marvin Browning.

Services will be 4 p. m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Lolita, the Rev. Gary Thedford officiating.

Willie Mae McNary

 

Willie Mae McNary, 81, wife of George Louis McNary, Sr., of Victoria, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at her home. She was born to the late Will Allen and Johneulia Battles Fryer on August 9, 1936 in Cheapside, Texas.

 

She was a member of the VFW, Order of the Eastern Star, and recently served as Chaplain for the Lockhart Cemetery Association.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Everett Fryer; and a grandson.

 

She is survived by her husband; children Jacqueline Randle of La Marque; George McNary, Jr., of Rosenberg; Althea Cyphers of Pflugerville; Gregory McNary, Sr., of Victoria; Ron McNary of Victoria;

and Marilee Anderson of Houston; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters Herman Fryer and Johnell Price of Cuero; and Allen Scott, Dorothy Ross, and Nancy Brown of Victoria; and

a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Visitation was June 9. Funeral service was at First Baptist Church, Victoria with the Rev. Fred Hobbs officiating.

 

Burial followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Victoria.

 

Services were under the direction of Grace Funeral Home, Victoria, 573-4341.
