Abelino “Bill” Gonzales

Bill Gonzales died Saturday night, November 13, 1948, about 11:30 p. m. He was born and reared in Jackson County and bore a good reputation among all our people. He would have been 25 years old next month.

The funeral service for Bill was held at the Catholic Church Monday morning at 10 o’clock, with his pastor, Rev. Altamira conducting the service, assisted by Rev. Galindo of El Campo.

The young man’s popularity was shown by the large number of people attending the service.

Besides his widow and two daughters, 5 and 2 ˝ years, and his parents, the deceased is survived by two brothers, Antonio “Tony” and Jesse, and one sister, Coralina.

Pablo Gonzales, 60, Resident Since 1917, Buried Here Monday

Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a. m. at Slavik Chapel for Pablo E. Gonzales, 60, well-known Edna Latin American citizen. Rev. Austin Schell of the Baptist Mission officiated and interment was in the Edna Cemetery.

Mr. Gonzales, who had been a resident of Jackson County since 1917, was born Jan. 11, 1900 in Gonzales. A well-known Edna laborer, he passed away at his home, 410 W. Houston St., from a heart attack, about 5:30 a. m. Sept. 11. He was a member of the Spanish Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Tomasa Gonzales; two sons, Antonio and Jessie;  a daughter, Carolina Gonzales, and five grandchildren, all of Edna.

Tanis Gonzales Jr.

Tanis Gonzales, 65, passed away on Oct. 25, 2015. Tanis was a grounds keeper for St. Agnes Catholic Church for many years.

He was drafted when he was 18 and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his mother, Antonia Martinez, his daughter Norma Gonzales, four grandchildren, sister-in-law Tina Martinez, niece Marisa and husband Jose Gonzales, as well as nephews Ethan and Tyler Gonzales.

Tanis is preceded in death by his brother Joe Martinez and his grandparents Cruz and Paula Gonzales.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Services have been entrusted to Russell Todish of Slavik Funeral Home, 361-782-2152.
