Last Saturday morning at about 10:30 o’clock, a tragic accident occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Clifton which took the life of their little son, Tommy. It was said that the day before the children had asked the father to make them a swing. Being a man who tried to give his children the best things they asked for, he did his best at making them a good strong swing in the back yard. When the children were all swinging and having a good time, the accident occurred—the swing turning over and striking the little fellow in the head. No one knows how the swing came to fall as it was tried for safety the night before. Little Tommy Ellison Clifton was born March 18th, 1943 in Edna, living here all of his short life. He was 5 years and 10 months of age. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Clifton and four sisters, Carlyn Ann, Jane, Connie and Sandra, and one brother, Jerry; also his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Quinn of Houston and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Clifton of Edna, and a number of uncles and aunts.—Contributed. Edna Weekly Herald, January 29, 1949

Betty was a woman of God who loved people passionately and lived life to its fullest. She loved Jesus and shared his love and grace to countless people during her lifetime. It was important for her to root her family in her faith as well, taking every opportunity to teach her kids and grandkids the love of God. She served her church community through playing the piano and organ, teaching Sunday School, and working in Vacation Bible School. Betty was a true historian who loved spending time learning not only about her own heritage but that of the Cole family and the regions where they lived. He was born in Galveston, Texas on August 24, 1984, to the late Carl Edward Coleman, Sr. and Taunya Garrett. Bam Bam as most of us know him was a loving, supportive, hard worker, and proud father. He loved his children with all he had. He didn’t mind helping out his friends or loved ones that came to him for his help. He was in the process of turning his life around. He didn’t hesitate to find work, as he was working to get the things necessary to better himself. Brandon loved his family, especially his kids. He missed them dearly and wanted to make things right with them. His time away from them changed him and motivated him to become a responsible person.
He loved his mom and dads very much and loved hanging out with
his brother, Carl. They were partners in crime. He enjoyed
spending as much time with family as he could. He especially
loved running to McDonalds for a frappe with his mom. Brandon was not shy to meet new people, he had a sense of humor that everyone around him enjoyed. He kept it real with you and didn’t sugar coat anything he spoke about. He enjoyed watching movies especially scary ones, action, and comedies. He enjoyed fishing, watching football, and relaxing in the pool. It was never a dull moment with him, you didn’t know what he would say or do next. He was the life of the party and open to having a good time. He will truly be missed by his children, family, and friends. For 38 years he gave us 100% Brandon Lloyd Coleman, but the past year he gave us something more, he gave us memories. We miss you and love you, Brandon.
