Vivian "Sue" Browning Bacak

November 15, 1939 ~ January 31, 2020

Vivian "Sue" Bacak, 80, of Ganado, went to be with her Lord on Friday, January 31, 2020. Sue was born on November 15, 1939 in Edna, Texas to J. D.Browning and Mildred Sanders Browning. In April of 1959 Sue married the love of her life; Marvin Joe Bacak and together they raised their four  wonderful children; Kim, Karen; Joe and Clint. 

Sue is survived by her husband; of 60 years; Marvin Joe Bacak, their children; Kim Courville, Karen Plant, Joe Dane Bacak and Clint Bacak and his wife Cindy. their nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers; Fred, Ervin, J.D., Aubrey, Douglas, and Jimmy Browning.

There will be a Visitation on Sunday, February 2, 2020 from 5:pm to 7:pm with Rosary being recited at 6:pm. Funeral Mass will be Monday, January 3, 2020 beginning at 2:00 pm at Assumption Catholic Church, interment will follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Ganado.

Pamela Joyce Bailey

Pamela Joyce Bailey passed away April 2, 2019 at the age of 64 after a decade of fighting cancer and contributed to the body of knowledge by participating in Multiple Myeloma clinical trials.

She was born June 18, 1954 to Hazel Louise and William Arthel (WA) Bill Taylor.

Pam molded the lives of children through her work at South Texas Theater stage productions and Corpus Christi Little Theater and by working at various early child hood development centers around Corpus Christi holding a CDA for many years.

She is survived by her loving husband Bruce Wayne Bailey, son Timothy Wayne Bailey, daughter Hannah Jon Bailey, and brother Robin Taylor.

Ben Ballin

Ben Ballin, 86, formerly of Louise, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2020. He was born on July 15, 1933 to Pablo and Jusia Ballin.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, March 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. with Rosary being recited at 6 p.m. at Slavik Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral.

Service will be Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Father Michael Petering officiating.

Mr. A. M. Bandy Died Last Week
(By Ganado Correspondent)

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 4th, at the Ganado Methodist Church for A. M. Bandy, a well known farmer-stockman of the lower Ganado section, who passed away at his home Friday at noon. The service was conducted by Rev. Leon Brown, pastor of the Methodist Church, after which the remains were laid to rest in the El Campo Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Messrs. Tom Pritchett, Dave Fleeman, E. V. Stevenson, I. L. Janecka, M. Estrella and Cotton Hensley of Boling.

Alvin Manford Bandy was born December 4th, 1903 in Montgomery County. He was united in marriage to Miss Verna Banker February 5th 1927, and moved to Jackson County in the fall of 1928, where he continued to reside until his death. Mr. Bandy was engaged in farming and raising of cattle. He had been in failing health for four years, and had been in the hospital for treatment several times.

Those left to mourn his passing are his widow, Mrs. Berna Bandy; two sons, Clarence and Wayne and one daughter, Verna Arline, and other relatives and a host of friends.

Carolyn Barron

August 26, 1942 - July 27, 2020

Carolyn Barron, formerly of Edna, Texas went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 27, 2020, at the age of 77. She was born on August 26, 1942 in Bryan, Texas to Tom Joe and Ruth Smith Barron.

Aunt Carolyn (Miss Barron) taught High School for over 40 years, most of those in Edna, Texas. Throughout her career she taught many subjects from History, Government, Business, Speech, and Journalism. She was an avid supporter of her sports teams as well as a coach in many UIL events with a short period as the Drama teacher.

In her retirement, to the family farm she continued to support UIL students in Pflugerville by attending and judging events. Always keeping track of her local sports teams. She was not done teaching and continued to substitute teach at all the Pflugerville High Schools until the last four years of her life.

She also was a faithful member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and VBS.

Aunt Carolyn was never a prideful person instead taking pride in the achievements of her family and students. One source of her greatest pride was the naming of a Pflugerville elementary school in honor of her mother “Ruth Smith Barron Elementary”. Ever appropriate that this school was extremely near to the family farm of which Aunt Carolyn had availed so many students with stories of throughout the years.

She will be dearly missed for her unconditional love and giving spirit by her family, friends, and thousands of students.

Carolyn is survived by her sister, Ruth May Mulenex, sister-in-law Billie Barron; nephews, James Mulenex, Joe Mulenex, Bill Barron, Bob Boemer, Bill Boemer, Mitchell Walters, Charlie Barron, David Pfannstiel, Kerry Pfannstiel and Dave Barron; and nieces, Beth McMahon, Becky Poindexter, Barbara Boemer, Kayde Barron, Noelie Day, Vivian Moss, Diana Riepe, Lynn Aldrich, and Ann Matheson.

She was preceded in death by; her Parents: Tom Joe, and Ruth Barron, sisters, Mary Anna Walters, (Calvin), Shirley Pfannstiel (Dan), and Lillian Boemer (Arnold); brothers, Joe R. Barron (Verda), Tom W. Barron (Gerry), Charlie N. Barron (Wanda), O. Noel Barron, and brother-in-law, Edward Mulenex; nephews, Clay Walters, and Robin Pfannstiel.

A private family service will be held in Austin.

Sonja, "SoSo" Marie Nelson Bauerle

November 29, 1937 – June 5, 2020

On Friday, June 5, 2020, Sonja, "SoSo" Marie Nelson Bauerle, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 82. Sonja was born in San Antonio, Texas on Monday, November 29, 1937. She received her nursing (RN) degree from Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas. On September 17, 1961, she married the love of her life; Robin D. Bauerle in Ganado, Texas.

She has been preceded in death by her father; John Lambert Nelson, mother; Adair Mauritz Nelson and sister; Greta Carlson. She is survived by her loving husband; Robin and their four children; Jennifer and husband John Carpe', Elizabeth and husband Bill Keller, John Bauerle and fiancee' Stacy Ballard, and Marcus and wife Debby Bauerle, grandchildren; John Carpe' and girlfriend Meagan Alex, Tyler and wife Elyse Bauerle, Austin Carpe', Bronson Keller, Torie Bauerle, Justin Bauerle, Trace Bauerle and girlfriend; Sara Brezina, Ryan Bauerle and Easton Bauerle, great-grandchildren; Isla Madrid and Kassie and Drake Bauerle. Pallbearers will be: Johnny Vesley, Clinton Teglar, Blake Petrash, Joey Rosales, Gary Kacer, and Shayne Rickaway Honorary Pallbearers will be; Ray Schoenfield and Fred Rickaway.

SoSo will always be remembered for being such a wonderful wife, mother, SoSo, and friend for her kindness and spunky attitude. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of South Texas, or St. James Lutheran Church in her name.

The Family wishes to thank Dr. Bruce Baulknight for all his wisdom and support over the past three years, as well as her cousin Marsha "Cookie" for her strength and always being there for Sonja and her family, especially her children. 

There will be a visitation on Monday from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at St. James Lutheran Church with Funeral Service beginning at 1:30 pm with Margaret Jackson officiating.  Interment will follow at Ganado City Cemetery.

Elias Bell

Edna--Elias Bell, 94, of Edna died Tuesday in a Ganado hospital.

Funeral services have been set for 1 p. m. Saturday at the Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. L. B. Elliott officiating.

Burial will be in the Ganado Cemetery under the direction of the Cook-Butler Funeral Home.

Mr. Bell was born Sept. 7, 1886, in Victoria County. He was a retired rice farmer.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Annie Butler of Edna and a brother, Willie Bell of San Antonio.

Pallbearers will be Ralph and Vic Hosey, Elijah Brown, M. C. Griffin, Ottis Bell and Alvin Stovall.

Mrs. Elizabeth Bell

Edna--Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Bell, 91, of Edna will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the Prosperity Baptist Church in Ganado with the Rev. Pat Griffin officiating.

Burial will be in the Prosperity Baptist Cemetery at Ganado under direction of the Cook-Butler Funeral Home of Edna. Pallbearers will be Jimmy, Thomas and Roy Parson Jr., Ottis Littlejohn and Leslie and L. C. Callis.

Mrs. Bell was born in the Sandies community of Jackson County Dec. 19, 1887, and was married to Elias Bell on June 17, 1913. She died Saturday in a Ganado hospital after a lengthy illness.

Surviving are her husband, Elias Bell of Edna; a brother, June Parson of Edna, and a grandchild.

Joe D. Benavides

Joe D. Benavides of Edna passed away Monday, July 27, 2020 at the age of 82. He was born on September 20, 1937 to the late Francisco and Julia Benavides.

He married the love of his life, Elida Gomez, in 1958. They would have celebrated 63 years of marriage on February 16, 2021. To this union were born three children- Cynthia Benavides Dohmann (Tim), Sandra Jo Benavides (Marty) and Raymond Benavides (Vivianna), seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

Joe was a man of few words but when he spoke his words were profound and often very witty. He was a proud and private person and was respected by many.

He was a butcher by trade since 1958 and was a businessman and owner of The Meat Center, Inc. He, his wife, Elida, and their three children successfully ran the business until June of 2006 when he retired. His work ethic was impeccable, something he passed on to his three children and his heart was as good as gold. May he Rest In Peace. We love you and miss you!

A Rosary will begin Friday, July 31, 2020 at 7 pm at Angel Lucy's Funeral Home in Victoria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 10 am at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna. Gladys Marie Hirsch Bennett

GANADO - Gladys Marie (Hirsch) Bennett of Ganado went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the age of 85.

She was born September 14, 1929 in Huffsmith, TX., to Albert and Louise (Vogt) Hirsch. She married J.R. Bennett on September 27, 1947. They were married 67 years. Gladys was a devoted wife and mother, taking great pride in her home and yard.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Irvin and Maxie Hirsch, and her sister, Ruby Martens. Gladys is survived by her husband J.R. Bennett, her children, Howard (Annette) Bennett, LaVerne ( Mike) Konarik, Judy (Bennie) Dunbar, and Nelda (Geren) Roecker. Gladys is also survived by her eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be Monday October 20, 2014 from 6 ~ 8 pm, at the Ganado Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday October 21, 2014 at 10:30 am at the St. James Lutheran Church in Ganado, with Pastor Chris Heinold officiating. Interment will be in the Ganado Cemetery.

 

The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the St. James Lutheran Church.

J. R. Bennett, 92, of Ganado passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019.  There will be a visitation on Sunday, December 1, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at St. James Lutheran Church in Ganado. Carlton Lee Bivens

Carlton Lee Bivens passed away on October 5, 2016. He was born April 7, 1933 in Jennings, Louisiana to the late Charlie Franklin Bivens and Mary Martha Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Maxine Bivens, two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, Peggy Pair Bivens of Inez; his sons, Carlton Bivens, Jr. of Columbus and Gary (Lisa) Bivens and Edward (Tammy) Bivens of Victoria; extended family, Diann (Hague) Dunlap of Corpus Christi, Tim (Susan) Pair of Ganado, Scott (Cindy) Pair and Tamye (David) Crockett of Victoria; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren with one on the way. 

Carlton served in the Army as an Airborne Field Artillery Crewman from June 1953 to June 1956. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum in Point Comfort, and spent several years farming in the Ganado area. His special contributions were his legendary Sunday lunches for the family after church. Carlton was a handyman extraordinaire who owned every tool known to man. He would lend you his tools, and then you would receive a new one for your next birthday! Go Astros!

Pallbearers will be Kyle Pair, Clay Crockett, Brett Pair, Jody Mac Pair, Wayne McDonald and Michael Weaver. Honorary pallbearers will be all 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 pm Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel follow by a funeral service at 2 pm. Graveside services will follow at Ganado City Cemetery at 3:30 pm.

Francis Joseph Blanchard

November 29, 1937 ~ August 6, 2020

Francis Joseph Blanchard, 82 of Edna, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2020. He was born on Monday, November 29, 1937 in Kennedy, Karnes County, Texas to Joseph T. Blanchard and Janie Janacek Blanchard. Francis grew up in Hobson, Texas and graduated from Falls City High School in1955. After graduation he went to The Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science and graduated in 1957 He started working for Slavik Funeral Home in Edna, and later became partners of Slavik and Ganado Funeral Homes. He was a licensed Mortician for 52 years. he married his High School Sweetheart in 1959, they were married for over 60 years and had three children. 

Francis was very active in his local community, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as the Grand Knight in 1959, he was President of the Edna Lion's Club from 1970 to 1971, and then again from 2000 to 2001,he remained a member for 52 years. He was elected to the Edna City Council in 1970 and served for two terms. He was appointed as a Municipal Court Judge in 1977 and served for27 years. he was also an elected Justice of the Peace from1982 to 1990.  In his spare time, he taught CCD and was Eucharist Minister and Lector for St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna.  Francis loved spending time with his family. he had a great sense of humor and always had a joke to tell.

Francis is survived by his wife Adelene Kowalik Blanchard, his daughter; Sharon and Keith Canion, his sons; Steven and Talisha Blanchard and Shelby and Patrice Blanchard, as well as his grandchildren; Lucas, Kendall, and Madi Blanchard and Courtney Canion, his sisters; Mary and Charles Sheblak and Claudia and Ted Sheblak, and his brothers; Bernard and Stella Blanchard, and Mark and Olivia Blanchard. He is preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank his wonderful, caring doctor; Dr. Mahran Nezhad, and his awesome caregiver; Euesebio Garcia, III.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, August 9th from 5:pm to 7:pm at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Rosary being recited at 7:pm. Funeral Mass will be Monday, August 10th at 10:30 am with Father Michael Petering officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Edna.

Corriann Ann Boehm Bock

August 17, 1937 ~ July 10, 2020

Corriann Ann Boehm Bock of Ganado, Texas went to be with the Lord on Friday July 10, 2020. Corrian was born to Willie Eddie Boehm and Annie Wenskee Boehm on August 17, 1937 in Ganado, Texas. She married Charlie R. Bock on February 14, 1991.  She attended and graduated from Ganado High School and Wharton County Junior College.  Corrian worked for Conner Corner Grocery Store, South Texas Project, Ganado Independent School District, W. R. Grace Fertilizer and the First State Bank of Louise. She was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters Court of St. Alberta #1381 for 64 years, and Cub Scout Pack 135 Den Mother. She also volunteered at the Ganado Nursing Home and Rehab for the weekly Mass.

Corriann will be remembered forever by her children; Jeffrey VanPelt and wife Peggy of Victoria, Michael VanPelt and wife Debbie of Ganado, Douglas VanPelt and wife Jan of Spring and Clayton VanPelt and wife Shelly of Inez. She is survived by her Grandchildren; Dillon Brown, Jared Brown, Brian Cunningham and wife Melissa, Dayna Wharton, and husband Scott, Marie VanPelt, Christine VaPelt, Lauren Thieme and husband David, Kelsey VanPelt and Karson VanPelt. She is also survived by her Great-Grandchildren; Cameron Cunningham, Kendall Cunningham, Alyssa Wharton and Ian Wharton.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Charlie R. Bock, Grandson; Nicholas VanPelt, sister; Lydia Sparck, and brothers: Raymond Boehm and Edward Boehm.

Visitation will be held at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Ganado, Texas on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 from 5:pm to 7:pm with Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 10:00 am with burial following at Assumption Catholic Church Cemetery with Father Kirby Hlavaty and Deacon Anthony "Red": Hensley officiating.

Serving as pallbearers are Raymond "Buzzy" Boehm, Dillon Brown, Jared Brown, Brian Cunningham, William Gavranovic, David Muegge, David Thieme and Karson VanPelt. Honorary pallbearers are her Granddaughters, Great-Granddaughters, and Great-Grandsons.

The family would like to thank the special ladies from Compassionate Care for their loving care of our Mom, Crown Hospice of Victoria, Texas and Ganado Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the ABVM Maintenance Fund, P.O.Box 369, Ganado, Texas 77962. Services are under the guidance of Russell Todish of Ganado and Slavik Funeral Home, 361-771-2120.

While many may want to come to the services, the family knows that many cannot due to the pandemic.  Social distancing rules will be enforced and face coverings must be worn at all times. Visitation time will be spaced for social distancing. Seating will be limited for the Rosary and Funeral Mass to allow for social distancing.

Christopher Mark Bolander

Christopher Mark Bolander of Houston, formerly of Edna, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020 at the age of 55. Chris was born on Sunday, February 21, 1965 in Conroe to Noel Edwin Bolander and Betty Jean Hessong Bolander.  Chris will be buried next to his mother at Memory Gardens of Edna.

He is survived by his brothers; Jeff and Judy Bolander of Houston, Texas, and Gary and Terry Bolander of Coronado, California, niece; Jennifer Bolander, nephews; Brian Bolander and Jarrett Bolander, Uncles, Aunts, and cousins.  Chris is preceded in death by his parents. 

There will be a Private Graveside Service on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 10:00 am at Memory Gardens of Edna,  In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be sent to Vita-Living, Inc. 3300 S. Gessner, Suite 150 Houston, TX 77063.

Alpha Alene Nowlin Braddock

Alpha Alene Nowlin Braddock, 95 of Granbury, TX, formerly of Edna, TX, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020. She was born on Monday, December 29, 1924 in Mississippi to Henry and Ruby Nowlin.  She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law; Randy and Sue Anne Braddock of Granbury and her five granddaughters; Holly Phillips, Amy Munson, Leah Welch, Brittan Braddock and Brooke Braddock, also her four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Marshall Braddock and her loving daughter; Sandra Phillips.

There will be a private family graveside service on Tuesday, April 28th 2020 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Edna.

Judy Bridges

Judy Bridges, 73, of Ganado went to be with her Lord on Monday, January 13, 2020. Judy was born in East Bernard in 1946 to Byran and Julia Ann Grantham. Judy is survived by her husband of 48 years; Keith, their daughters; Rebecca Lowe and her husband Shane, and Kimberly Bridges, as well as her sister; Elizabeth Downs.  She is preceded in death by her parents. Judy was involved in her community with the local Retired Teachers, FUMC of Ganado and The Mustang Squares. There will be a visitation on Saturday, January 18, 2020 beginning at 9:00 am followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church of Ganado with Pastor Paul Beard officiating. Interment will be at Blumberg Cemetery in McQueeney at 4:00 pm. The Family STRONGLY requests that in lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations be made to FUMC, Church Trustee Fund, P.O. October 10, 1962 ~ July 22, 2020

Francisco Briones, Sr. passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2020. He was born in Mexico on October 10, 1962 to J .Isabel Briones Mendoza and Maria de la Luz Rangel Moreno. He is survived by his wife Leonor Briones, children; Claudia Briones, Yeimi Zavala, Juana Laura Espejo, Litzy Dayana Briones and Francisco Briones, Jr.  sisters; Estela, Rosa, Elena, Virginia, Maritza, Veronica, Maria and Guadalupe, brothers; Jorge, Emilio, Sergio and Manuel.

There was a private family graveside service on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 10:00 am at Assumption Catholic Cemetery with Deacon Red Hensley officiating.

Sinclair Brooks

Edna--Funeral services for Sinclair Brooks, 82, of Markham, a native of Jackson County, will be held at 2 p. m. Friday from the Shiloh Baptist Church here, with the Rev. H. T. Aldridge of Markham officiating.

Burial will be in the Ganado City Cemetery under direction of the Cook Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Ned and Ned Ellis Brooks, James Christopher, O'Neal Green, Willie Hill and Howard Rhoder Sr.

Mr. Brooks, a retired farmer, was born in this county June 28, 1891. He lived here until 20 years ago, when he moved to Markham. He was a Baptist, and died Monday in a Bay City rest home.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Christopher of San Antonio; four son, Ned Brooks of Markham, the Rev. Leonard Brooks of LaMarque, and Reilly and Curtis Brooks of Los Angeles, Calif.; eight sisters, and four brothers, and 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Troy L. Brooks, Sr., 66, of Bloomington passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2020. Troy was born in 1953 to J.D. Brooks, I and Gladys Odell Brooks. Troy is survived by his wife; Lou Brooks, their children; Johanna Brooks, Tina Matula DeAnda, Troy Brooks, Jr., Stephen Matula, Marc Matula, Terry Matula and R.P. Matula, also their thirteen grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; J.D. Brooks, I and Gladys Odell Brooks, brother; J.D. Brooks, II, and sisters; Jerry Blackwell and Sue Ferguson.  There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Slavik Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Cledeth Bryan

GANADO—Mrs. Cledeth Elizabeth Bryan, 83, died at 12:45 p.m. Thursday in a Ganado hospital.
She was born Jan. 3, 1883 in Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Ganado. with the Rev B. J. Hall officiating.

Burial will be in Ganado City Cemetery.

Survivors include four sons, Jerry and Jim, of Ganado, Keith of Freeport, and Kenneth of the Panama Canal Zone; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Clifford Hultquist, Wayne Sulliman, Cecil Gandy, Bob Roberts, John Dettrich, and Luke Sanford.

Jerry Lee Bryan

Jerry Lee Bryan, 87, of Ganado, Texas died Monday, June 25, 2001.

He was born January 19, 1914 in Ganado, Texas to the late Robert J. Bryan and Cledith E. Bryan. He was a band director and taught in the public schools for 36 years. He retired in 1979. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ganado.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kathryn "Betty" Bryan; a son, Jerry L. Bryan II of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Carol Ann Corrigan of San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: James, Kenneth and Keith.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2001 at the Ganado First Baptist Church.

Burial will be at the Ganado Cemetery in Ganado.

Pallbearers are Bill, Steven, Reade, Jimmy, and Warren Bryan and Tex Corrigan.

Robert Brzozowski, 90, of Edna, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, January 4, 2020. Robert was born on Thursday, March 28, 1929 in Yaokum, Texas to William and Elizabeth Brzozowski. RObert is survived by his wife; Catherine of 64 years, his children; Theresa Martin, Andrew Brzozowski and his wife Cathy, Patrick Brozozowski and his wife Cherie, his sister Mary Elizabeth "Dolly" Alexander, his nine grandchildren; Markalise Mithcell, Lucas Brzozowski, Caleb Brzozowski, Leeman Martin, Christina Belk, Michael Brzozowski, Amy George, Matthew Brzozowski and WIlliam Brzozowski, also his fifteen great-grandchildren;Dade, Khaki, Jillian, Weston, Kailyn, Gavin, Carson, Aston, Dean, Kennedy, Carter, Myla, Brielle, Bowen and Kallen.  Robert is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; Bill,  J.B., J.C., and Lawrence Brzozowski, his son Mark Anthony Brzozowski and his son-in-law Marvin Martin

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at St. Agnes Catholic Church from 5:pm to 7:pm with Rosary being recited at 6:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, January 9, 2020 beginning at 10:am with Father Michael Petering officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Edna. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made  to Hospice of South Texas: 605 E. Wesley Chad Buchanan

Wesley Chad Buchanan, 48,  passed away Feb. 19, 2020 peacefully at home. He was born on July 29, 1971 to Larry J. and Rose Marie Buchanan.

He was a husband, stepfather, brother, uncle and friend.  He maintained a career as a first-class machinist and was currently employed at the Newport News Shipyard working on submarines for the U.S. Navy while persuing his engineering degree and maintaining a 4.0 average and being on the Dean’s List. But he was most at home on the family farm in LaWard, Texas.     

Wes was preceded in death by his parents Larry J. Buchanan and Rose Marie Buchanan and his sister Valorie Watson.   

He is survived by his wife Janis Lorene Buchanan; stepsons T.J. Dickey and Dakota Dickey; brother Larry Joe Buchanan  and wife Barbara; sister Jacqueline Garner and  husband Calvin; nine nieces and nephews and 17 great-nieces and nephews.     

Services will be held at the Oaklawn Funeral Home 900 Navidad St. Edna Texas 77957. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Oaklawn Funeral services are 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 4 at Oaklawn Funeral Home  followed by grave side services at Red Bluff Cemetery in Lolita.

Mackie Lorine Carvell  Manning Burditt

Port Lavaca - Mackie L. Manning Burditt, 94, of Port Lavaca and formerly of Edna, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005.

She was born April 7, 1910, in Giles County, Tenn., to the late Joshua Buckhannan and Nellie Louisa Carvell. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of Edna.

Survivors: daughters, Gladys Manning of Edna and Carolyn Lee Daniels of Refugio; two sisters; one brother, 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: first husband, Philip L. Manning Sr.; second husband, Allen L. Burditt; daughter, Joyce Swenson Manning; sons, Thomas Alfred Manning, Charles Daniels and Allen Newton Burditt; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be 2 - 4 p. m. Sunday at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home chapel.

Services will be 2 p. m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Edna, The Rev. Sue Huntsman officiating.

Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Edna. Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home, Port Lavaca, 361-552-2988.
