Desmond Ray Gaskin

CLUTE - Funeral services for Desmond Ray Gaskin, 47, of Clute, formerly of Edna, TX, will be Monday, July 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 604 Martin Luther King, Edna, TX with Rev. Walter L. Gant, Jr., Presiding and Rev. Ondra D. Waddy, officiating. Burial will follow at Hines Cemetery in Edna, TX.

He passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. "Des" was a member of First United Missionary Baptist Church in Freeport. He was a part of the Christians in Action Ministry and a Trustee. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, studying God's word and socializing with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfred Edwards, Minnie Frances Stovall, Irdean Gaskin and Ruth Stovall Gaskin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Members, Trustee & Deacons of First United Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Angleton, TX. There will also be viewing at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Alden Green, Jr.

VICTORIA - Mr. Alden Green, Jr. (80), resident of Victoria, Texas, passed away on August 22, 2015 in Victoria.

Mr. Green was born January 10, 1935 in Edna, Texas to Alden and Louise Miller Green. A memorial service honoring Mr. Green will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at noon in the chapel of Tracy's M. J. Santellana Funeral Directors, 107 W. River in Victoria.

Altha M. Griffin

EDNA--Altha Marie Griffin, 80, of Edna died Saturday Oct. 2, 1993.

She was born Oct. 28, 1912, in Morales to the late Ben and Betty Brown Harris. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Visitations: 9 a. m. - 8 p. m. Monday, Shiloh Baptist Church.

Services: noon Tuesday, at the church, the Rev. Garry L. Roberts officiating.

Burial: Hines Cemetery, Cook-Butler Funeral Home, Edna, 782-3821.

Mr. Clinton Griffin

EDNA--Clinton Griffin, 87, native of Jackson County, died Monday night in a nursing home in Edna. He was born Feb. 20, 1886.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m Thursday at Scruggs United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Joe Carter officiating. Burial will be in Hines Cemetery under direction of Cook Funeral Home.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lola Robinson of Edna; two step-daughters, Mrs. Zelma Miller of Edna and Mrs. Angeline Moore of Houston; a stepson, Ernon Inghram and a sister, Mrs. Susan Hopes, both of Edna; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Herbert Green, Vanneze Rucker, Leonard Brooks, Artie Norman Jr., Robert Norman, and Leo Haynes.

Lloyd Griffin

EDNA--Funeral services for Lloyd Griffith, 57, of Houston, a former Edna resident, will be held at 1 p. m. Thursday at the Scruggs United Methodist church with the Rev. Billy Young officiating.

Burial will be in the Hines Cemetery near Edna under direction of the Cook-Butler Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Kimmett, Anthony and Tommy Brigham; and Donald Williams Jr., Richard Garley and Walter Washington.

Mr. Griffin was a native of Jackson County, born May 21, 1924. He was a retired custodian. He died Monday in a Houston hospital.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Annie Adams of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. Laura Hunter of Houston and Ms. Linda Clay of Edna; three sons, Lawrence Griffin of Houston, L. C. Clay and LeRoyce Griffin of Edna; two sisters, Mrs. Lovell Callis of Edna and Mrs. Josephine Brigham of Houston; a brother, Cloyd Griffin of Houston; and six grandchildren.

Nettie Mae Griggs

BAY CITY--Nettie Mae Griggs, 60, of Bay City and formerly of Edna, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998.

She was born April 11, 1938, in Edna to Minnie Bryant Stovall of Edna and the late Vanneze Rucker. She was a retired school cafeteria dietician.

Survivors: daughters, Linda Turk of Austin, Paula Brown of Houston and Lynne Price of Bay City; sons, Tim Brown and Cleophus Brown Jr. both of Bay City and Alvin Brown of Houston; sisters, Alfreeda Gaskin and Ruth Brooks both of Edna; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a. m. today at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Edna, the Rev. Cleophus Brown Sr. officiating.

Burial will be at Hines Cemetery. Cook-Butler Funeral Home, Edna, 782-3821.

Pallbearers: Terry Wiley, Michael Herbert, Deric Rutherford, Gerald Brown, Jonathan Brooks. Leonard Brooks, Desmond Gaskin and Doug Gaskin.
