EDNA--Annie Lee Adams, 89, of Edna died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 1996. She was born June 9, 1906, in Edna to the late Isaac and Emma Watson Barnes. The homemaker was a member of Scruggs United Methodist Church. Survivors: husband, Frank Adams; daughters, Lovell Callis of Edna and Josephine Brigham of Houston; son, Cloyd Griffin of Houston; brother, George Barnes of Edna; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: son, Lloyd Griffin. Visitations will be held from 11 a. m. to 7 p. m. today at Cook-Butler Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p. m. Frank Adams  Frank Adams EDNA--Frank Adams, 85, of Edna died Wednesday, March 13, 1996. He was born Feb. 22, 1911, in Gonzales to the late Anderson and Harriett Smith Adams. He was a retired contractor. Charlie Alexander Funeral for Charlie Alexander who died in a local hospital Wednesday night following a lengthy illness, will be from the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Edna at 2:30 p. m. Sunday. The Rev. L. B. Elliott will officiate. Burial will be in Hines Cemetery in Edna under direction of Lytle Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maxine Alexander, three daughters, Mrs. Bettie White and Mrs. Gladys Gardener Ross, both of Victoria, and Mrs. Alice Cooper of Oklahoma City, two sons, Solomon of San Antonio and Julius of Galveston, and 15 grandchildren.

EDNA--Charles Barnes, 77, of Edna, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006. She was born Dec. 23, 1928, in Morales, to the late Henry and Rachel Diggs Hines. She was a Baptist. Jane Letitia Diggs Boales  Letitia D. Boales BEEVILLE--Letitia D. Boales, 72, of Beeville died Monday, Oct. 14, 1996. She was born April 26, 1924, in Edna to the late Izear and Aline Hines Diggs. She was a retired beautician and she was a Baptist. Survivors: daughter, Clara Paulette Bailey of Beeville; and son, Richard Boales of Beeville. EDNA--Irvin Donnell "Rub" Boston Sr., 42, of Edna, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999. He was born June 17, 1957, in Ganado, to Olean Callis Boston of Ganado and the late Savalia Boston. He was a laborer with Mercer Construction Company and was a member of Oakmon United Methodist Church in Ganado. Survivors: wife, Barbara Boston; daughter, Faith I'Lea Boston of Edna; sons, Derrick Donnell Boston Sr, Adam Jabot Boston and Irvin Donnell Boston Jr., all of Edna; mother; sisters, Carrie Lee Callies and Willie Dilworth, both of Ganado and Ollie B. L. V. Brooks  L. V. Brooks EDNA--L. V. Brooks, 65, of Edna, died Saturday morning in a Victoria hospital. He was born July 19, 1919, in Jackson County and was a veteran of World War II. He was employed by Parker Brothers Gravel and Cement Co. of Victoria. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p. m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Hines Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Millie Mae Brooks of Edna; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Jeffery and Mrs. Norma Renfro, both of Houston and Mrs. Bertha of Boston, Mass.; three sons, Eugene Brooks of Houston, Sammy Brooks of Louisville, Ken. and Waymon Brooks of Tulsa, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchildren.

Ruth Delores Barnes Brooks, of Edna, passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 at the age of 66. She was born in Ganado, Texas, on Nov. 8, 1945, to the late Meck and Minnie Stovall Barnes. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Regina L. Brooks of Edna; sons, Jonathan W. Brooks and wife Estelle M. of Austin, Gregory L. Brooks of Utopia, and Leonard V. Brooks of Wylie; and sister, Alfreda Gaskin of Edna. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her former husband, LV Brooks; sister, Nettie Mae Griggs; adn brother, William James Barnes. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 26 from 5 - 7 p. m., at Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a. m., on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Oaklawn Funeral Home. Mr. Bryant was born Jan. 31, 1926 in Jackson County, and was self-employed. He died Thursday in an Edna nursing home. He is survived by his father, William Bryant of Port Lavaca; his stepmother, Mrs. Odessa Bryant of Edna; three sons, C. J. Barnes of Edna and Eddie Bryant Jr. and Bobby Ray Bryant, both of LaMarque; two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Louise Clark of Houston and Mrs. Joyce Faye Robinson of San Diego, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Willie Mae Hilder of Houston, Mrs. Minnie Stovall and Mrs. Bertha Caesar, both of Edna, and Mrs. Lillian Hicks of Dallas; three brothers, John O. Surviving in addition to her parents are her stepfather, the Rev. A. B. Clay Sr. of Ganado; her husband, John O. Bryant of Edna; seven daughters, Deborah Callis, Margie Miller, Barbara, Primrose, Johnnie and Linda Gail Bryant, all of Edna and Sandra Bryant of Victoria; five sons, Everett, Darren and Kevin Bryant, all of Edna, Reginald Bryant of Angleton and Curtis Bryant with the U. S. Army, currently stationed in Belgium; a sister, Edith Chinn of Edna; a brother, Carl Sayles of Houston; a stepbrother, A. B. Clay Jr.. of Edna; 22 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
