Caleb Wallace/Wallis
Born: ca 1797
Died: 13 Aug 1844, Grimes County, Texas
Married: (2nd) 27 Apr 1828 to Elizabeth Wingfield, Austin County, Texas
(3rd) to Elvira Wingfield, sister of Elizabeth

Children:
Four by Elizabeth - Martha Ann, Owen, Mary, and James Monroe. Elizabeth died at birth of James Monroe.
Two by Elvira - Sarah Jane and Milton.

After losing his first wife, Caleb went west and became a boat captain on the Mississippi River. He was acquainted with a Capt. Brown and a Dr. Kerr who introuduced him to Mr. Bryan, the brother-in-law of Stephen F. Austin. Caleb then became one of the "Original 300" settlers of Austin's colony. He arrived in Texas in February 1825. His league was in the southern part of present day Grimes County on Wallace Prairie.


Military Information
A volunteer in Pierson's Company, East Bank of the Brazos River Volunteers, June 1836 to September 1836.


Burial Information
Buried in an unmarked grave in what is now McAlpine Cemetery.
