William J. Butler was found dead near the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr.and Mrs. T.L. Denham, who reside on the old Stephens farm, south of Kentuckytown, Tuesday evening about 7:30 o'clock.  He had gone to the pasture to drive up the milch cows, and when he failed to return as soon as expected, a search was started for him.  His body was found leaning against a stump, which indicated that he had stopped to rest.  It is believed Mr. Butler suffered a heart attack and died suddenly.
Mr. Butler was born June 17, 1862, at Trenton.  He moved to Sherman in 1917, but left there two years ago to make his home with his sister.  His wife died in 1921 at Sherman.
The body was brought to Whitewright and prepared for burial by Glen Earnheart.  It was then taken in charge by Dannel-Scott, funeral directors, of Sherman, who had charge of the arrangements in Sherman, where funeral services were held at 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoo with burial following in West HilL Cemetery.
Mr. Butler is survived by one daughter and four sons, Mrs. E.H. Brown of Mt. Pleasant; W.J., Paul and Daley Butler of Sherman and Wade Butler of Mountain Home, Tennessee.  A brother and sister also survive, C.W. Butler of Leonard and Mrs. T.L. Denham of Whitewright.
