Clarence C. Langford is Dead at Sherman


Special to the News - Sherman, Texas, March 12- Clarence C. Langford, 43 years old, manager of the Langford Lumber Company here, died Thursday night following a three week illiness with appendicitis and complications. He is survived by his wife and three children; also by four brothers, all of whom are engaged in the lumber business. They are Russell Langford, Van Alstyne; Ed Langford, Celina; Charles Langford, Nacogdoches, and Allen Langford, Van Alstyne. 
He had lived in Sherman practically all his life and was prominent in business, civic and social circles.

C.C. Langford Buried Friday. 

Lumberman of Sherman Was Active in Varied Business Circles.

Special to the News- March 13 - C.C. Langford, one of Sherman's leading citizens for many years and a son of the late C.A. Langford, died Thursday night at 8 o'clock at St. Vincents' Sanitariam after an illness of about 20 days following an operation, pneumonia setting in to result in his death.
Funeral services were held at 4 o'clock Friday afternoon at the home of Morduant C. Everheart, the Rev. Evertt B. King, assisted by the Rev. G.C. Brewer presiding, with final services at the mausoeum. All schools closed Friday afternoon for the funeral.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. C. A. Langford and four brothers and a sister, C. M. Langford, Mount Enterprise; E. A. Langford, Celina; R.L. Langford, Van Alstyne; Allen W. Langford, Levelland, and Mrs. E.S. Alexander, Houston; by his wife, former Miss Alice Everheart, and three children, Mary Louise, C.C. and Alice. All of his family were present when the end came. 
Mr. Langford was 42 years old. He was born in Gainesville, but the family moved to Sherman when he was 2 years old. His father was a pioneer lumberman, having been in that business prior to his removal of here.  C.C. Langford had been in charge of the Langford Lumber Company here for the last four years since his father's death.
One of the most active leaders of Boy Scout work in Sherman and Grayson County, Mr. Langford was serving as a member of the executive committees of the Sherman and Grayson County councils at the time of his death.
Mr. Langford was a prominent member of the Sherman Rotary Club and was president of the Sherman Country Club. 
Mr. Langford was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of Travis Lodge 117, A.F. & A.M. , Sherman Chapter Royal Arch Masons and Sherman Council No. 43, R. and S.M. He was preparing to complete his York Rite Masonary at the time of his death, it was said. 
He was a member of the Hell Temple Shrine, Dallas, and was first vice president of the Grayson County Scottish Rite Association.
