Guy L. Able
Guy L. Able, 66, a building contractor and lifelong resident of Sherman died late Monday in a Sherman hosptial following a brief illness.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Dannel Funeral Chapel with Don Tarbet, minister of the Grand Ave. Church of Christ, officiating, assisted by Rev. Lawrence Smith, pastor of First Methodist Church in Bells.  Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dannel and Son Funeral Home.
Mr. Able was born Jan. 4, 1903 in Sherman, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Able, and was married to Myrtle Battles Nov. 8, 1922.  She preceded him in death Feb. 26, 1963.  He was a member of the Grand Ave. Church of Christ and for many years served as secretary of the Carpenters Union.
He is survived by a son, Guy E. Able of Lawton, Okla; a daughter, Mrs. Linda Cherry of Plano; and four grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times they will be at the residence, 121 N. Cleveland.

Mrs. Guy Able Sr., 60, Dies, Rites Wednesday
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Dannel Funeral Chapel here for Mrs. Guy Able Sr., 60, of 121 N. Cleveland who died at 10 a.m. Tuesday in a Sherman Hospital.
Allen Harper, minister of Grand Ave. Church of Christ, will conduct the services.
Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will be at Dannel Funeral Chapel from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Mrs. Able was born July 27, 1902 in Comanchee County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Jay Battles.  She married Mr. Able on Nov. 9, 1922 in Sherman. She was a member of the Grand Ave. Church of Christ.
Survivors besides her husband are a son, Gus Able Jr. of San Antonio; a daughter, Linda Kay Able, and two brothers, Hubert Battles and Clifford Battles, both of Sherman; and three grandsons.
