JUDGE TOM BROWN DEAD
Judge Thos. Jefferson Brown, chief justice of the supreme court of Texas, died in a Greenville sanitarium Wednesday.  Judge Brown was one of the state's most distinguished jurists and beloved citizens.  After completing a most thorough literary and law education, Judge Brown was admitted to the bar in 1857 and practiced law in the district and state courts with residence at McKinney and Sherman until he was called to higher honors in the judiciary.  In 1893 he was elected associate justice and in 1911 chief justice of the supreme court.  In his law connections, he was associated with Governor Throckmorton and later with the lamented Federal Judge David Bryant.
The body has been shipped to Sherman where the funeral will be held Friday.

DEEP REGRET IN McKINNEY
Death of Mrs. T.J. Brown Came as a Shock to Friends
McKinney, Tex., Jan. 12 - The news of the death of Mrs. T.J. Brown at Austin was received with deep regret in this city.  She and Judge Brown were married here in 1858, when he was a struggling young lawyer, and they resided here until 1874, when they moved to Sherman, later moving to Austin after he had been made a member of the Texas Supreme Court.
Mrs. Brown was a sister of B.T. Estes of this city, and had many friends here.  Several from this place went to Sherman today to attend the funeral.
