 West Hill Cemetery Sherman, Texas  Donald Ray Nelson 12 November 1932 - 10 July 1998 Opal Oneida Nelson 28 July 1933 - 11 October 2022 wed 4 February 1951  Opal Oneida Nelson came into the world on July 28, 1933 and gained her Heavenly wings on October 11, 2022. She was born in Houston, Texas, daughter of Ben and Allie Mohundro Russell. Opal married Donald Ray "Popie" Nelson on February 4, 1951. Born into this union was Donald Ray Nelson, Jr. and Oneida Nelson Davis. She was of the Church of Christ faith, a homemaker, wedding planner from the beginning to the end. The weddings she did are still being talked about to this day, they were so beautiful. She was called "Nana" by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband; son; and a host of family and friends. Opal is survived by her granddaughter, Donna Nelson and her children, Farrelene (Tadpole) and Dakota (Twinkle Toes); grandson, Leon Nelson and wife, Shannon and their children, Tyler, Spencer and Carter Nelson; granddaughter, Valeria Smith (Nick) and children, Hunter, Wyatt and Niko; grandson, Nickalus Davis and daughter in love and caregiver, Diane Valentin. Graveside services were held Saturday morning, October 22, 2022 at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, Texas.
