Ira L. Smith Laid To Rest Tuesday at 4

Funeral services for Ira L. Smith, 78, were held Tuesday afternoon at four o'clock at the Dannel Funeral Chapel in Sherman, conducted by Rev. A.W. Blaine of the North Park Baptist Church.  Pallbearers were D. Patterson, Cecil Clayton, Arlie Hicks, William Mayo, Clyde Shaw and Truett Davenport.  Interment was in West Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Smith passed away in a Sherman hospital Monday morning at 10:30. He was born in Collin County on July 29, 1879, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benson Smith. He was united in marriage with Miss Emily Sena Haigler of Howe on January 10, 1910. He was a retired farmer and rancher near here, and was a member of the Grayson County Farm Bureau and the Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife; by 3 sons, Weldon Smith of Glendale, California; G.W. Smith of La-Canada, California; and L.G. Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma; by 3 daughters, Miss Mildred Smith and Mrs. Lewis Richardson, both of Borger, and Mrs. Herman Phillips of Amarillo; by 2 brothers, Thurston Smith of Santa Ann California; and Herschell Smith of San Francisco; by 4 sisters, Mrs. A.M. Blackburn of Duran, Oklahoma; Mrs. Thomas Smith of Charlote,  North Carolina; Mrs. Ralph Sweet of Austin; and Mrs. R.D. Clements of Austin; and by 4 grandchldren.
