SHERMAN - Charles Brice Robinson, long time Sherman attorney, passed away Sunday Jan. 17, 2010 at Texoma Healthcare Center. He was 81 years of age. The family will receive friends from 6 -8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 at Dannel Funeral Home. Services will be conducted by Rev. Neill S. Morgan at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sherman. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery.
Charles was born on May 22, 1928 in Palestine to Guy T. Robinson and Alva Davis Robinson. His father was a member of a banking family and his mother's family were prominent ranchers in Anderson County. Charles attended schools in Palestine, where he was president of his senior high school class. After high school he attended Virginia Military Institute of Lexington, Va., and then earned a degree in the business school at the University of Texas, followed by a law degree from the UT Law School. A member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity at UT, he was also elected vice-president of the student body. He also served as president of the UT's Men's Glee Club and a candidate to the Texas Cowboys.
After law school, he was commissioned in the U.S. Army and served three years during the Korean War. After his military service, Charles practiced law in Houston before moving to Sherman, where he served with distinction as an attorney for more than 50 years. Recognized in 1962 as Outstanding Young Man of Sherman, he went on to serve as president of the Grayson County Bar Association. A long term member of the Sherman Rotary Club, he was also a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and in 2001 received recognition by the State Bar of Texas for 50 years of service as a lawyer. Charles was active in the Covenant Presbyterian Church, having served as chairman of the board of deacons as well as a long term member of the session and the chancel choir. His service to the Sherman Chamber of Commerce and other local organizations was well known. 
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Strother Robinson, who passed away Nov. 12, 2004. He is survived by three daughters, Rebecca R. Stallard (David) of Boca Raton, Fla., Frances R. Pinkston (Jerry) and Emily R. Fancher (Eric) of Dallas; four grandchildren; sister, Jane R. English of Houston; sister-in-law Virginia Higgins of Denison; three nephews and two nieces.
The family would like to thank Soundra Cowan and Terry Rankin for their dedication in serving as caregivers and Rhonda Farrell for her many years of service as legal secretary for Charles.
Honorary pallbearers include Judge Lloyd W. Perkins, Prof. Hank Gibson Jr., Don E. McAden, Jack M. Bloom, M.R. Walker, Oren Art, Jack G. Kennedy and Robert Totah.
