SHERMAN - Funeral services for Lindon E. Hicks will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, in the First United Methodist Church of Sherman. Dr. Jim Pledger and Dr. Tom Peel will officiate. A reception will follow at the church. Private graveside services will be held at West Hill Cemetery with Mike Catellier, Trey Darnell, Scott Ortiz, Nick Keating, Rick Cantu, and Randall Hicks serving as pallbearers. Mr. Hicks passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, at Texoma Medical Center at the age of 67. Waldo Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. 

Lindon was born to Lowell and Ala (Samford) Hicks on April 6, 1942, in Simmons City. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964, and was stationed in Germany. After his discharge from the Army, he moved to Alice, where he worked for C.P. Tool Co. In 1968, he moved to Odessa to work for Slough Equipment. 
He and Phyllis Ann Tatum were married on Aug. 29, 1969 in Odessa. They relocated to Casper, Wyo. in November 1969, where Lindon started his own company, Hicks Equipment, which he operated until his retirement in 1993. He and Phyllis then moved to Sherman, where they became active in the local community. In 1997, Lindon came out of retirement to work for Southcoast Products as Domestic Sales Manager. He continued this work until his recent illness. 
Lindon was a member of First United Methodist Church where he had served as an usher. He was a perfect gentleman, demonstrating exceptional patience and a kind and gentle spirit. Lindon touched many lives with his kindness and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Hunting and fishing, and being out of doors were always especially enjoyed by Lindon.
Survivors include his wife Phyllis of Sherman; mother, Ala Hicks of Three Rivers; daughters, Kathy Tatum of Scottsdale, Ariz., Kristy Tatum of Denver, Colo., Keli Ortiz and husband Scott of Casper, Wyo., Koby Catellier and husband Mike of Sherman; brothers, Vernon Hicks and wife Juanita of Belton, Curtis Hicks and wife Della of Three Rivers, Lewis Hicks and wife Carrie of Lake Whitney; and sister-in-law, Jean Hicks of Kingsville; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nine nieces and nephews; and mother-in-law, Woody Glenn of Bells. He was preceded in death by his father, one brother Dean Hicks, and a nephew, Prentice Hicks
