Services for W.B. (Bill) Thompson, 83, of Sherman who died Friday in Wilson N. Jones Hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Dannel Funeral Home Chapel.
The Rev. Lester Scally of Loving Baptist Church and the Rev. David Roman of the House of Prayer in Claremore, Okla., will officiate. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson was born in Barwick, Okla., the son of John Franklin Thompson and Sally Mullins Thompson. He moved from Oklahoma as a small child.
Mr. Thompson attended school in Sherman. He married Velma Killian on July 26, 1928 in Sherman. He owned and operated several Skelly and Conoco service stations before his retirement. He was a member of Loving Baptist Church and was a past member of the AMVETS and the American Legion. He served in the Navy during 1943-1945.
Surviving are his wife; daughters, Willie Carpenter of Sherman and Rosa Welch of Richardson; sister, Leah Morrison of Wichita Falls; and 22 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joe Sutherland, Mike Sutherland, Johnny Sutherland, Jimmy Hall, Joe Welch and Jerry Welch.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday and other times at the residence.
