Funeral services for Rev. Cass Stinson French Jr. will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 29 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Judge Ray F. Grisham will officiate and the burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. Arrangements are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman.
He passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital-WNJ in Sherman.
He was born on April 26, 1932, in Sherman, the son of Cass Stinson French Sr. and Lola Harrison French. Cass graduated from Bells High School. He joined the United States Navy serving in Korea as an Aviation Ordinanceman and a Tail Gunner. Cass married Nelda Janeas Ashcraft in 1956 in Denison, Texas. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2011. He served as a Grayson County Constable for eight years, Co-Director of the Tri County Senior Nutrition Program for 27 years, and Pastor of Pecan Grove Church for 33 years with a total of 54 years in the Ministry.
Cass is survived by his son, Bill French and wife Sherri of Howe, Texas, son, Danny French and wife Patti of Sherman; five grandchildren, Stephanie French, Cassidie Chapman, Bill French, Jr., Kirk Reese and Kevin Reece, 12 great-grandchildren and one brother, Charles French of Carthage, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, George and Harrison French.
Family night will be held on Thursday, July 28 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Waldo Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Harold Dean Wagoner, Stan Miles, Charles Tumlinson, Bill French Jr., Terry Dunn and Jimmy Grant
