Leona Strawn
Services for Leona Taylor Strawn, 85-year-old Dorchester resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Dannel Funeral Chapel.  She died Monday at Wilson N. Jones Hospital.
The Rev. Tom Medley, former pastor of Friendship United Methodist Church, will officiate.  Entombment will be in the mausoleum at West Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Strawn was born in Mustang, the daughter of Thomas Leland Taylor and Lucy Lee Taylor.  She graduated from Sherman High School and North Texas State Teacher's College in Denton (now the University of North Texas).
She taught school in Denison before her marriage to Ernest Blain Strawn Feb. 5, 1936, in Sherman.
She assisted her husband in managing their farming business near Dorchester.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dorchester and Texas Farm Bureau.
Pallbearers will be Chandler Strawn, Spencer Strawn, Brent Strawn, Greg Russell, Brian Russell, Hunter Graham, Reagan Graham and York Graham, grandsons of the deceased.
Among her survovirs are her husband; sons, Taylor Lee Strawn of Sherman, Leland Francis Strawn of Dorchester and Ernest Blain Strawn Jr. of Dorchester; daughters, Lucy Jo Walker of Amarillo and Linda Sue Russell of Dallas; brothers, Jack Taylor and T.L. Taylor of Dorchester; sisters, Annie cumming of Sherman and Ola Brown of Dorchester; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ernest Blain Strawn
Dorchester - Services for Ernest Blain Strawn of Dorchester who died early Friday morning, December 27, 1996, at Wilson N.Jones Regional Health System, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Dannel Funeral Home Chapel.
Dr. Jeffery Pruitt of Friendship United Methodist Church will officiate.  Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at West Hill Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman.
Mr. Strawn, son of the late Francis M. and Nancy Joeann Strawn, was born November 9, 1905, in the Dorchester community, wherehe resided all of his life.  He attended Clayton School and Draughans Business College before he began farming and ranching, an occupation which lasted over 60 years.
Ernest Strawn married Leona Taylor of Dorchester in 1936.  They were married 58 years before her death in 1994.
As an active member of the Dorchester and Sherman communities, Mr. Strawn organized 4-H and FFA fairs.  He was a member of the Sherman Chamber of Commerce, Grayson County Farm Bureau, honorary member of the Future Homemakers of America and the First Baptist Church of Dorchester.
Throughout the years, Mr. Strawn received many awards and recognitions for his farming achievements.  In 1986, he was chosen as the Conservation Farmer of the Year by the Upper Elm-Red Soil and Water Conservation District, Zone 5.
Mr. Strawn was preceded in death by his wife and a son, Leland Strawn.
Surviving are his children, Lucy Walker of Amarillo, Linda Sue Russell and husband, Bill, of dallas, Ernest Blain Strawn, Jr. of Dorchester and Taylor Lee Strawn and wife, Susan, of Sherman; sisters, Josie Allen of Crosby, Texas, and Winona Clements of Sherman; twelve grandchildren, Debra Jo Anderson, Greg Russell, Brian Russell, DeAnna Walker, Chandler Strawn, Spencer Strawn, Brent Strawn, Ruth Ann Strawn, Hunter Graham, Reagan Graham, York Graham, and Tamalyn Hellums; five great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, T.L. and Peggy Taylor, Jack Taylor, Annie Cumming and Ola Brown.
Pallbearers will be John chumbley, Donnie Martinek, Roy Fuller, Larry Cabelka, David Catching, Charles Hopson and Miller Cranfill.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Joe Stout, Oscar Noel, Raymond Risk, Lee Hudgins, Rayburn Nall and Dale Hill.
