Albert S. Brown Funeral Monday

Albert S. Brown, 83, of Pottsboro, an early Grayson County teacher, died at a Sherman nursing home early Saturday after a three-week illness.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church here Monday at 2:30 p.m. with Dr. Henry Garber, pastor, and Rev. David Baker, First Christian Church minister, officiating.
Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery at Sherman with Johnson-Moore in charge. The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 until 8 o'clock.
Pallbearers will be Edwin, Freddie, Albert and Cory Brown, Gary and Jerry Wilson, Eddie Thompson, and Rickey Grimes.
Brown was born in the Celtic community near Sherman April 27, 1888 and married Miss Sallie Cowherd at Pottsboro Dec. 31, 1910.
He attended school at Pottsboro, Quitaque, Silverton, Southeastern State College in Durant and Kidd Key College in Sherman.
His 53-year school career included tenure as superintendent of Gunter.  He taught at Pottsboro, Whiterock, Skaggs, Howe and Hagerman before he went to Willow Springs where he retired.
He was juvenile officer for Grayson County for nine years after his retirement and then continued as a farmer and rancher.
Brown was past master and secretary of the George R. Reeves Masonic Lodge No. 396 at Pottsboro.  He received his 50-year pin in 1963.
For a time Brown was a bookkeeper for a gin company. He also was a member of the Woodmen of the World Pottsboro Lodge No. 426, serving as secretary, and the First Christian Church.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Albert W. of Denison, Jack C. of Sherman; four daughters, Mrs. Geneva Thomas, Denison, Mrs. Juanita Wilson, Dallas, Mrs. Dorothy Grimes, Oak Grove Community, and Mrs. Mary Thompson, Denison; and 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the First Baptist Church for Charles Ray Brown, 23, who died in a Sherman hospital Wednesday night after nine days of illness.  The Rev. W.B. Billingsley was the officiating minister and Bratcher-Moore in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Brown was the vocational agriculture teacher of Denison high school, a position held since the beginning of this school year.  He was born in
Pottsboro, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert S. Brown.  His wife is the former Miss Marjory Nelle Bridgefarmer and they lived at 1411-1/2 Morton.  He was a member of the Kiwanis club and the Junior Chamber of Commerce.
