DEATH OF JUDGE AUGUSTUS C. TURNER
Our citizens were startled Tuesday morning to learn that Judge A.C. Turner, of Sherman, was dead, as few were aware that he was sick.  On the fourth of the month he was in this city and apparently enjoying robust health.  The disease was congestion of the bowels, with which he was suddenly attacked only a few days before his death.  Judge Turner was an old citizen of the county, known to nearly every one, and was universally liked and esteemed by the people of Denison.  His family has the heartfelt sympathy of our citizens in their great affliction.
The bar of the county met at Sherman Tuesday and passed a resolution of respect.  The funeral took place Tuesday evening and was largely attended, many citizens of Denison being present.
Judge A.C. Turner was born in Jasper county, Georgia, in June 1848, and moved to Titus county, Texas, in the fall of 1858.  He read law with Governor O.M. Roberts at Gilmer, and graduated in 1870, and in 1872 moved to Sherman.
He was elected as county attorney in this county two terms, subsequently served as special district judge, and was a candidate for that office at the time of his decease.
