 Robert E. Roe 14 November 1912 - 2 October 1984 The Sherman Democrat November 24, 1968 pg.6 FATHER OF VIETNAM WAR VICTIM DIES FOLLOWING ATTACK John P. Roe, Sr. who had a son killed earlier this year in Vietnam, died of an apparent heart attack Saturday while hunting birds in the Olney area with 2 other sons, Herbert and Eugene Roe. Mr. Roe lived at 1508 S. Rusk. Funeral arrangements were pending at Waldo Funeral Home. Mr. Roe was born July 9, 1909, in Sherman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben S. Roe. He attended public schools in Sherman and had lived here all of his life. He had been a machinist at Hardwicke-Etter Company for about 20 years before his retirement in 1964. He was a veteran of servicein Europe during World War II with the United States Army. A son, Donald J. Roe, was killed in Vietnam while serving with the United States Army on June 24, 1968.
