Helen Juanita Cowan, age 83, of Sherman, Texas passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Texoma Medical Center of Denison. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. at Dannel Funeral Home on Thursday, November 10, 2011 with funeral services following visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Dannel Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Billy Wilder will officiate with Chapel Services and Sr. Pastor Albert Fisher will preside over interment at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman .

Pallbearers for Ms. Cowan will be Tim Cowan, Jason Cowan, Shawn Cowan, Joe Stroud, Jon Stroud and Steve Cowan.
Helen was born on June 9, 1928 in Sherman, Texas to Ormond L. Cowan and Geneva (Calhoun) Cowan. She attended Sherman schools and graduated from Sherman High School. She was a long time member of Key Memorial United Methodist Church.
Helen retired as an Administrative Assistant from Texoma Council Of Governments.
Ms. Cowan was preceded in death by her parents, and brother James Alfred Cowan.
Survivors include brother, Bob Ray Cowan and wife Elizabeth of Rowlett, sister-in-law, Mary Cowan of Garland, nephew, Steve Ray Cowan and wife Anne of Dallas, niece, Laurie Riley and husband John of Charlotte, NC, nephew, Danny Cowan and wife Leah of New York City, NY, niece, Pam Moore and husband Chuck of Maybank, TX and nephew, Tim Cowan and wife Janet of Garland and some very special people that Helen regarded as her nieces and nephews, "The Strouds", Jon, Dixie, Cindy and Joe.
Helen had several great-nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly as well as special friends Carlotta Doolittle and Don Ersch.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the doctors and nursing staff who cared for Helen during her stay in ICU at Texoma Medical Center.
