Mildred Bernice Shaw, 75-year-old Simms housewife, died Sunday September 6, 2009.  Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, September 10, 2009 at Waldo Funeral Home.  Rev. WIllie Rhodes of Paris officiated, assisted by Rev. Mark Lyle of the Mena Church of God and Rev. Kenny Phillips of the Farmers Branch Church of God.  Burial followed at West Hill Cemetery with Kevin Phillips, Chris Adams, Aaron Shaw, Justin Shaw, Josh Shaw, and Charles Michael Christen serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers were the Simms and New Boston, Texas volunteer fire departments.
Bernice was born September 12, 1933 in Wickes, Arkansas, daughter of Ernest and Mildred Bryant Rose.  She married Rev. T.M. Shaw on January 3, 1949 in Wickes, Arkansas.  Bernice was a devoted pastor's wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was a member of the Church of God.
Surviving are her husband of Simms; daughter, Gail Phillips and husband, Dean, of Farmers Branch; sons, Tomomy Shaw and wife, Laura, of Simms; and Jeff Shaw and wife, Debra, of Simms; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mae Lyle and Pauline Smedley of Arkansas; Ozie Crawford and Donna Davis of Texas; and Virginia Stevenson of Oklahoma; brother, Buford Rose of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda Gail; and her sister, Iola Cantrell.
Memorials may be made to the Smokey Mountain Children's Home, Sevierville, Tennessee or to the charity of the donor's choice.
