LEE WOODS DIED IN SHERMAN TODAY
Sherman, August 23 - Lee Woods, one of the prominent and successful citizens and business men of Sherman, passed away at his home at 702 W. Washington avenue at 4 o'clock this morning after an illness of several weeks.  Death cameon his 58th anniversary; he was born in this city on August 23, 1861.
Funeral services will take place from the family residence at 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon, interment being made in West Hill Cemetery.
News of the death of Mr. Woods this morning caused the greatest sorrow throughout the city.  He is survived by his wife and by a son, LeGrand J. Woods, Jr. and a daughter, Mrs. Brents Woods Pace; also by an adopted daughter, Mrs. LaNicca, of Chicago; a brother, Sam Woods, of Alice, Texas; a half-brother, Roy Woods, of New Mexico; a half-sister, Mrs. Cassie Tone, of Denison; a step-sister, Mrs. Brewer, of Chicago; and step-brother, John Coffee, of New Mexico.
Mr. Woods had always been a very active business man, engaging in ranching in this state and in Oklahoma.  For a number of years he has been the southern representative of the National Stock Yards National Bank of St. Louis.  He was held in high esteem in the business and social world by all with whom he came in contact and was admired for his manly qualities as an honest, charitable, Christian gentleman.  His passing is an irreparable loss to not only his immediate family but to the entire community as well.  His active business life, coupled with his interest in his fellow men and the welfare of his community and his country has contributed in no small degree to the advancement of all that is good and well for the people at large.
