FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. J. M. SHANKLES 

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. James M. Shankles, who died Saturday, 13 June 1953, at her home near Pottsboro, after a long illness.
Officiating ministers were the Rev. Clyde Beck of Kerr Chapel Baptist Church, where Mrs. Shankles had been a member 70 years, and the Rev. C. J. Graves, Methodist minister. Burial was in West Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Shankles, who was Miss Ella Dunning before her marriage in 1883, had lived her entire life in the home where she died. She and Mr. Shankles, who is 93, were among the oldest married couples in Grayson County.
Pallbearers were C. E. Kretsinger, W. M. Kretsinger, David Brown, Paul Brown, Ed Porter and Bill Porter.
Surviving are three sons, Guy Shankles and Wylie Shankles of Denison route 2, and Lee Shankles of Southmayd; two grandsons, one brother and one sisters.

JAMES SHANKLES, LONG TIME RESIDENT, DIES 
Funeral service will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. in Waldo Funeral Chapel for James Marion Sankles, 96, a resident of Grayson County for 80 years who died Friday, 27 July 1956 in a Sherman rest home after a long illness. His home was near Pottsboro.
Rev. Clyde Beck, pastor of White Rock Baptist Church, and Rev. C. J. Graves of Sherman , Methodist Minister, will officiate. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery. Grand nephews will be pallbearers.
Mr. Shankles, a native of Licking, MO., retired from farming 20 years ago because of ill health. He came to Grayson County in 1876, settling near Pottsboro. He was a son of Mr. & Mrs. James M. Shankles. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors are three sons, Lee Shankles of Sherman route 3; and G.M. Shankles and J. W. Shankles of Denison route 2; two grandsons, Lt. Doug Shankles with the Air Force on Formosa and Lt. James Shankles with the Air Force in England; one great grandson, James M. Shankles III of England, a number of neices and nephews.

Howe - Services for Guy Marion Shankles of Howe, 93 year old retired farmer who died Saturday at a Sherman hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Waldo Funeral Chapel in Sherman.
The Rev. Hugh Moody of the First Christian Church of Van Alystne and Bill Wiley of the Wood Street Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in the West Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Shankles was born in Pottsboro, a son of James M. and Ella Dunning Shankles. He farmed in the Pottsboro area for many years and had mineral interests and farm property in both Grayson and Bryan County Oklahoma. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Howe.
Among those surviving is his brother Lee Shankles of Sherman.
Pallbearers will be Doug Shankles, Ensign James Shankles, Jr, Jack Kretsinger, Gary Reynolds, Dick Williams and J. T. McDonough.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday and at other times at the Lee Shankles residence, 732 Westwood Dr., Sherman.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Waldo Funeral Chapel for James Wiley Shankles, 82, life long resident of Grayson County, who died Tuesday, 2 May 1978 at a Sherman hospital. He lived at Howe.
Services will be conducted by Rev. Willard Fairchild of the Howe First United Methodist Church, with burial at West Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Shankles was born in Grayson County, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James M. Shankles. He was a retired farmer-stock-man and was a member of the Howe First United Methodist Church.
Survivors are brothers, Guy Shankles of Howe and Lee Shankles of Sherman.
Pallbearers will be Col. James Shankles, Maj. Douglas Shankles, C.E. Kretsinger, David Brown, Billy F. Clement and Percy Morton.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and other times at the Lee Shankles residence, 732 Westwood Drive.
