Sherman - Funeral services for James Ray Haliburton, 88, of Sherman will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2010 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at the West Hill Cemetery in Sherman.
Ray passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 6. 2010 at the Wilson N. Jones Medical Center.
He was born on July 15, 1921 in Hickory, Okla., the son of Jimmy Thomas and Ida Geneva Green Haliburton.  He was raised in Leonard.  Ray married his soul mate Mildred Geneva "Neva" Farmer on June 17, 1946 after serving in the U.S. Army.  Ray was a World War II veteran, who served his country proud from 1942 to 1945 as a field phone operator in Holland, France, Italy and Germany.  He was about to be shipped to the South Pacific when he found out the war was over.
He enjoyed life to its fullest.  He enjoyed playing pranks on his grandkids and friends.  Ray raised chickens, rabbits, hounds, and homing pigeons.  He was a very hands-on person and loved to lend a hand to anyone in need and teach them anything he could.  He was a handy man and a jack-of-all-trades, working various occupations including Allied Van Lines, Kroger Foods and Evergreen Foods.
He owned and operated Haliburton Feed in Sherman from 1975 to 1980.  Ray stayed busy even after his retirement at Haliburton Salvage until his health forced him to stay home.  He will be missed very much by his friends and family.
Ray is survived by his wife Mildred Geneva Haliburton of Sherman; daughter Carol Collum and Roy; son, Richard T. Haliburton; daughter, Mary D. Bowden and husband David; and son Ronny L. Haliburton and wife Tina all of Sherman; grandchildren, Tammy Matteson and husband Ross, Tim Collum and wife Leslie, Mary Ann Bowden, David Bowden, Venessa Bowden, Annette Lynn Haliburton, Bobby L. Haliburton, Josh Haliburton, and Jo Ellen Haliburton also all of Sherman; He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, James Haliburton Jr., Mearl Haliburton and wife Nelda and Cecil Haliburton and wife Pat, all of Sherman; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter Denise Bowden.
Family night will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 10 at the Waldo Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Alonso Ramirez, Jorge Garcia, Javier Carpio, Ezegviel Yanez, Leonardo Yanez, and Mr. Ramirez.


Mildred "Granny" Geneva Haliburton, 87, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2018 at Texoma Medical Center, Denison.  Funeral services were held Thursday, August 23 at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel, Sherman.  Rev. Brian Taylor officated.  Burial followed at West Hill Cemetery, Sherman.
Mildred was born October 30, 1930 in Sherman, daughter of Otto and Curley Mae Foster Farmer.
Mildred met James Ray Haliburton at Hestand's Pharmacy in Sherman where she was working as a cashier and said to herself, "I am going to marry him" the first time she saw him.  They were married June 17, 1946 after Ray's return home from the Army.  Mildred worked at Shady Oaks Nursing Home as an aide, and as a cook a Perrin Air Force Base and Grayson County College cafeteria; she later worked at Haliburton Salvage in Sherman.  She was a member of the Rainbow Iris Club and enjoyed listening to C&W music and Polka Dance shows on Saturday nights with her husband on TV.  Her family recalls the many hours their parents spent riding around the farm checking on the cattle and her reminders to keep the truck on the road.  She was an excellent cook and loved to work in her yard.
Mildred is survived by her children:  Carol Collum and husband, Roy; Richard T. Haliburton; Mary D. Bowden and husband, David; and Ronny L. Haliburton and wife, Tina; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. - - - Waldo Funeral Home


Richard Thomas Haliburton
29 August 1951 - 26 November 2018

Our beloved brother and uncle, Richard T. Haliburton, 67, passed away in his home peacefully on Monday, November 26, 2018 in Sherman, Texas.  Graveside services were held Saturday morning, December 1, 2018 at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, Texas, next to his beloved parents.
Richard was born August 29, 1951 to Ray and Mildred Haliburton in Sherman.  He attended school at Fred Douglas and Bryant schools in Sherman until he was 18 and helped on the family farm.
Richard enjoyed life to the fullest.  He enjoyed old Chevy cars and trucks; he spent his days at his brother's business, Haliburton Salvage, where all his friends worked, and his nights were spent at home in his chair watching TV shows like the "Three Stooges" and old westerns.  He also enjoyed going hunting and fishing.  In his younger years, he loved playing and helping take care of his nieces and nephews.  He never missed holidays at his mom and dad's with all his siblings and nieces and nephews.  Family time was very important to him.
Richard is survived by his brother, Ronnie Haliburton; sisters, Mary and husband, David Bowden; Carol and husband, Roy Cullum; 9 nieces and nephews; 19 great-nieces and nephews; 9 great-great-nieces and nephews; one aunt; several cousins; and several great friends from Haliburton Salvage from the Sherman and the Southmayd area.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; 3 uncles; 2  aunts; 1 cousin and 1 niece. - - -Waldo Funeral Home
