WOMAN MYSTERIOUSLY KILLED AT SHERMAN
Sherman, Tex., Feb. 27 -  Mrs. Lottie Godwin, 34 years of age, wife of B.N. Godwin, a dairyman and stock man of this city, was found dead about 1 o'clock this afternoon at her home on Lake avenue, in southeast Sherman.  When found, Mrs. Godwin was sitting in a chair, fully dressed, and a double-barrel shotgun was on the floor nearby.   A wound was found in her abdomen.
The tragedy was discovered by her children, who had been in the yard.  The alarm was given, and her husband and Sheriff Tom W. Roberts, County Attorney H.H. Cummings and Judge R.A. McCrary arrived there simultaneously with Dr. Swafford.
Mr. Godwin gave it as his opinion that his wife had (been) murdered, and said that the murderer had taken a sum of money and other things from the house.
Judge McCrary held an inquest, but late this afternoon stated that he would not render a verdict for several days, as he desired to question other witnesses.
Mrs. Godwin is survived by her husband and 4 children.  The children are Lillis and Willis, twins, 15 years of age; Eunice 9, and Margaret, 3.
She was reared in Sherman and is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.C. Cook and the following brothers and sisters: Pierce, Brown, Bennett, and Edgar Cook; Mrs. Bessie Clark; Mrs. Sanders; and Misses Lillian, Kathleen and Ella Cook.
