Sherman, Texas, Oct 18 – W. G. Venable, 71, for 45 years a citizen of Sherman and prominent in church organizations and travelers’ groups, died at the home of his son, Dr. S. C. Venable, in Tulsa, OK, Friday.
The body is to be brought to Sherman Saturday, accompanied by Dr. Venable. Funeral arrangements have not been made. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Venable is survived by three sons, Prof. W. A. Venable of Chattanooga, TN, formerly of Austin College; Dr. D. R. Venable of Fort Worth and Dr. S. C. Venable of Tulsa. Mr. Venable was a charter member of Sherman Council No. 90, United Commercial Travelers when it was organized here about 30 years ago, and had been secretary from its organization until the time of his death. He was grand chaplain in the State U. C. T. organization and past grand councilor of the U. C. T. He was also prominent in the work of the Travelers’ Protective Association.
