WAR TOLL LISTS FOUR TEXAS GI
Washington (AP) - Twenty-three servicemen were killed in action in the Vietnam war were named Wednesday in a Defense Department casualty list.  They included:

ARMY
Texas - Cpl. Charles P. Barnes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Barney B. Barnes, 5809 Manila Drive, El Paso; Pfc. Donald J. Roe, son of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Roe, 1508 S. Rusk St., Sherman

MARINE CORPS
Texas - Pfc. Jesus R. Perez, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adan A. Perez, 931 E. Santa Gertrudis, Kingsville.
Changed - missing to dead - hostile

 ARMY
Texas - Pfc. Jesus Martinez, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bartolo L. Martinez, 318 Keralum St., Mission.

DONALD J. ROE DIES IN VIETNAM OF WAR WOUNDS
Pfc. Donald J. Roe, 21, of 1508 S. Rusk, son of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Roe, died at 5:45 p.m. Monday in a military hospital in Vietnam from wounds he received while engaging a hostile force on Sunday near Saigon.
He was a member of Company B, 2nd Battalion, 60th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division and had been in Vietnam since April 9, 1968.  He entered the Army in October of 1967.
He was born December 13, 1946 in Sherman, son of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Roe.  He graduated from Sherman High School in 1965 and attended Grayson Junior College 2 years.  He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors are his mother and father of 1508 S. Rusk; 11 brothers, Buddy Roe and Herbert Roe, both of Dallas; Eugene Roe, John Roe, Jr., Ross Roe, Glen Roe, Richard Roe, Robert Lynn Roe, Jerry Roe, Mike Roe and Joe Roe, all of Sherman; one sister, Sherry Roe, of Sherman; several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are pending the arrival of the body from Vietnam.  Waldo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He received shrapnel wounds of the leg 2 weeks ago and had been returned to duty several days ago.  He was wounded on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. while engaging the enemy and was evacuated to a military hospital where he died Monday at 5:45 p.m.

MILITARY RITES SET FOR PFC ROE
Funeral services for Pfc. Donald J. Roe, 21, of 1508 S. Rusk, who died June 24th in Vietnam as a result of wounds received on June 23rd, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Waldo Funeral Chapel.  His body arrived in Sherman Monday morning and was at the funeral home until service time.
Services were conducted by Rev. Roy Jerrell, pastor of the Forest Avenue Baptist Church and Rev. C.J. Graves, pastor of the Friendship Methodist Church.  Burial was at West Hill Cemetery under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
Pfc. Roe was born in Sherman on December 13, 1946, son of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Roe.  He graduated from Sherman High School in 1965 and attended Grayson Junior College for 2 years.  He entered the Army in October 1967 and had been in Vietnam since April 9, 1968.
Survivors are his mother and father of Sherman; 11 brothers, Buddy and Herbert Roe of Dallas; Eugene, John Jr., Ross, Glen, Richard, Robert Lynn, Jerry, Mike and Joe, all of Sherman; one sister, Sherry Roe of Sherman; a number of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.
Full military honors were accorded at the graveside by members of the United States Army.
