P.J. Mattingly, one of the largest stockmen in north Texas, died at his home in Sherman on Thursday, June 22.

Shermanite 85 Years; Mrs. J.E. Mattingly Dies
Funeral rites were held Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Josie Ella Mattingly, 81, who came to Sherman when she was only 4 years old.  She died suddenly Thursday night.
Dr. J.A. Ellis, First Baptist Church pastor, officiated.  Burial was in West Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Mattingly was born in Overton Co., Tennessee.
She is survived by a son, George Mattingly; two daughters, Miss Pauline Mattingly and Mrs. Frank Hare, all of Sherman; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
