Sherman - Graveside service for Lloyd Wesley Gurley, 80, a Sherman nursing home resident who died this morning at a Sherman hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at West Hill Cemetery, under direction of Waldo Funeral Home.
Gurley was born June 20, 1904 in Howe. He did plumbing and mainenance work for Howe Water Works several years. Gurley was a member of the Howe First Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Joe Wesley Gurley and Jackie Ray Gurley, both of Sherman; two sisters, Leola Hammett of Orange and Lois Holmes of Sherman; and six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the Jack Gurley residence, 414 Contemporary, Sherman.

SHERMAN - Joe Wesley Gurley 78-year-old Sherman resident, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008 at WNJ Medical Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12 at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Ryan officiating. Interment will follow in the Veterans' Section of West Hill Cemetery with military honors. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 -8 p.m. on Thursday.
Joe was born July 7, 1930, in Howe, to Lloyd Wesley and Loy Miller Gurley. He was educated in the Howe public schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a longtime employee of Texas Instruments.
Joe was baptized by his grandson, Jason Anderson, six months ago and joined Trinity Baptist Church. He loved his grandchildren and his hobbies included watching western and war movies. He was attached to his dog, Pepper.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Katherine; brother, Jack Gurley and daughter, Cathy Milligan. Survivors include his sons, Joe D. Gurley and wife, Betty of Gordonville and Billy Gurley and wife, Natalie of Bradley, Ark.; daughter, Joelle Fralloni of France; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his second wife, Carol Gurley.
Pallberers will be Trent Berkey, Andy Anderson, Chris Anderson, Robert Milligan, John Plumlee and Charles Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 2627 Loy Lake Rd., Sherman, TX 75090.
