BEACHER RUSSELL DROWNED FRIDAY NEAR HAGERMAN
Was Engaged in Driving Stocks From Lowlands

Advices were received here Friday afternoon of the drowning of Beacher Russell, nephews of the Russell Bros., horse and mule dealers here, also a brother-in-law of Lee Lovelady of this city.  Deceased was the son of W.J.S. Russell and had frequently visited here.  He met his death at Hagerman in Grayson county.
Russell met his death in a swollen stream, when he was marooned between the forks of two creeks.  Concerning his death, the following dispatch was sent from Sherman:
Beacher Russell, 25, was drowned Friday near Hagerman, 14 miles west of Denison.  Russell, with several of the farmers, was engaged in driving livestock to the uplands when he marooned between forks of a creek.  Flood waters swept down on Russell and before he could escape his body was swept a mile down stream, where he was recovered Friday afternoon.
A 4" rain fell in the Hagerman district Thursday night and another heavy rain fell Friday, adding to the flood waters and killing much of the live stock.
Russell's body will be taken to Sherman and funeral services will be held in that city Saturday afternoon.
