Greenville, Texas.  Graveside services for Flora May Blanton Lay, 99, of Sherman, who died Sunday, May 4, 1997, at Post Oak Rehabilitation Center, were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 1997, at West Hill Cemetery.  Rev. Tom Price of Bonham officiated.  Arrangements were under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home. 
Mrs. Lay was born January 16, 1989, in Fannin County, the daughter of W.F. Blanton and Jennie Wrenn Blanton.  She attended schools in Oklahoma and Texas and graduated from Wesley College in Greenville.   She earned her Bachelor of Arts at Southern Methodist University.  She was a teacher and housewife and resided in Sherman for over 50 years. 
She married Wilford W. Lay on June 17, 1930 in Sherman. He preceded her in death in 1952. 
Mrs. Lay was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sherman and was the church librarian for many years.  She was a member of the United Daughters of  Confederacy. 
Surviving is her sister, Nadine Blanton of Sherman. 
The family will be at Mrs. Blanton's residence at 310 W. Middleton Street in Sherman.
