- Ellen Rachel Riddle passed away February 17, 2016; arrangements were
under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Services were held
Monday afternoon, February 22, 2016 in Waldo Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. Steve Rice officiating. Burial followed at West Hill
Cemetery beside her late husband, Claude. Rachel was born January 4, 1923, daughter of James V. Grider and Edith Elizabeth Neathery Grider. She attended school in Van Alstyne and North Texas Business College and Grayson County College. She married Claude Douglas Riddle on September 4, 1948 in Shreveport, Louisiana. They were married over 57 years when he passed away. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sherman. Prior to retiring she had been secretary to insurance agencies in Denison, Ardmore, Oklahoma, and Sherman. She is survived by 3 loving nieces and their husbands: Lynda and Aubrey Rangeley of Corpus Christi, Texas; Vicki and Pete Doremus of Houston, Texas; Robin and Steve Shrout of Marble Falls, Texas; several great nieces and numerous great-great-nieces and nephews and cousins. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Douglas Riddel; husband; and sister, Dorthell McKinney. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Sherman or Hospice Plus.
