Funeral services were held in Dallas Tuesday morning for Mrs. Mary Lois Newman, 82, mother of B.W. Newman of Whitewright.  Burial was in West Hill Cemetery at Sherman.  Mrs. Newman died at her home in Dallas at 11:30 p.m. Sunday after a three-day illness.  Her husband, W.W. Newman, died in 1926 at Sherman.
Mrs. Newman was born at Howe September 29, 1872.
Surviving are four sons, B.W. Newman of Whitewright, Dr. Guy Newman of Waco, Murray L. Newman of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Gene Newman of Denton; four daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Womack of Brownwood and Mrs. John Murphrey, Mrs. Wayne Dunn and Mrs. Fred Dance of Dallas; two brothers, Guy and Bob Helvey of Abilene; two sisters, Mrs. W.R. Kennedy of Fort Collins, Colorado and Mrs. G.W. Beard of Clyde; 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Zelma Ann Bishop Newman, 89, of Dorchester, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2008.  Services were held Wednesday at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bobby Fletcher of First Baptist Church of Dorchester officiating.  Burial followd in West Hill Cemetery.
Zelma was born March 18, 1919 in Madill, Oklahoma to John and Myrtle Bishop.  She was married to Frank F. Newman July 28, 1938 until his death in 1997.
Known for her sweet smile and graciousness, she was a devoted member of Dorchester Baptist Church, the Dorchester Women's Club, and a retired member of the Haltom City chapter of Eastern Star.
Though she held an assortment of interesting jobs during her 58 years of marriage, she would most want to be remembered as a homemake and a loving wife, mother and daughter.  She lived through the Great Depression and World War II and resided at various times in California, Rhode Island and Mississippi before settling in Ft. Worth to raise her family.  In 1975 she returned to Dorchester with her husband to retire to the family farm.
She was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Eldean Bishop of Arkansas; and granddaughter, Lara Ashely Williams.
Survivors are her son, Frank F. Newman of Lake Kiowa; daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Gary Williams of Dallas; grandsons, Jordan Williams and Matthew Newman; granddaughters, Jacquelyn and Parrish Williams; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Doris and Lowell Mason; and her extended Bishop, Newman and Hunter families.
